Prediction market protocol Trueo plans to migrate its platform from Base to Ethereum mainnet, shifting its primary deployment as the project works toward a more decentralized prediction-market infrastructure.
Trueo initially launched on Base in March 2025. The protocol said the Ethereum Layer 2 provided a suitable environment for testing the application while Ethereum mainnet gas costs were higher and some features were still experimental.
Trueo said in its official announcement on X, “Base served as a great sandbox to experiment and discover our strengths.” The post was published on September 21, 2026.
The protocol said the current version has established the foundation for a larger platform that it wants to make widely adopted, broadly integrated, permissionless, and increasingly immutable.
“Ethereum is the best fit for this combination of properties,” Trueo said. The move also drew a public comment from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, and he also welcomed Trueo to Ethereum.
Why Trueo is moving to Ethereum
Trueo said the decision is not a reflection of Base’s position among competing blockchain networks. Instead, it pointed to Ethereum’s network effects, global integrations and compatibility with its long-term approach to decentralized applications.
“Ethereum, as a neutral and global financial hub, offers the highest integration potential and product upside,” the protocol said.
Trueo said it expects access to deeper liquidity and a wider range of crypto and financial ecosystems. It also said it sees potential applications involving DeFi, oracle services and yield-generation opportunities for its TYD product.
The protocol said Ethereum mainnet also presents an opportunity to develop a prediction market in a relatively uncrowded segment of the network’s broader DeFi ecosystem.
Vitalik Buterin welcomes Trueo to Ethereum
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin commented on Trueo’s announcement, referring to the project’s focus on decentralization and its approach to prediction markets.
“Glad to see that Ethereum L1 will have a new strong prediction market contender that is dedicated to decentralization, and being ethical and not corposlop, and to actually trying to do interesting and meaningful things with this class of economic primitive,” Buterin wrote in an X post.
He highlighted Trueo’s focus on decentralization and its effort to explore meaningful applications of prediction markets. Buterin also described the project as focused on “being ethical and not corposlop” and on “trying to do interesting and meaningful things with this class of economic primitive.”
Trueo co-founder known as “Lumberg” also highlighted Ethereum’s role in prediction markets, saying, “Ethereum is the best chain for the most credibly neutral and truthful oracle system and prediction markets.”
Oracle becomes a key priority
Following the transition, Trueo said its immediate priorities will be attracting liquidity to major market categories and developing the next version of its oracle.
“A prediction market is only as good as its oracle,” the protocol said.
Trueo said its oracle is designed to process evidence from different legitimate data sources when determining market outcomes. The project identified dispute resolution as an area where prediction markets still have room for improvement.
The protocol said feedback from users over the past 18 months has reinforced its view that the oracle is one of the most important parts of the platform.
“Our users demand a more impartial and credible prediction market resolution system than what the incumbents offer,” Trueo said.
The protocol said Ethereum’s broad ecosystem could also support further integrations for its oracle.
What happens to base markets
Trueo said it intends to make the transition without interrupting existing operations.
Users will continue to trade, resolve, and redeem markets during the migration, while TYD will continue accruing yield. Existing Base markets that expire after the transition will remain accessible through the official Trueo application and will continue using the current resolution system.
Users are encouraged not to create new Base markets that expire after January 31, 2027. Those markets should instead be deployed on Ethereum once the new instance goes live. Markets expiring before January 2027 will be unaffected.
Existing Base markets will continue using the current resolution system, including those that expire after the migration.
The TRUE token will remain the protocol’s native token, with holders able to migrate their tokens to Ethereum. Future staking and liquidity-reward programs will take place on Ethereum, while the migration window will remain open indefinitely.
TRUE rose after the announcement. According to CoinGecko, TRUE was trading at $0.1899, up 939.2% over 24 hours, with a 24-hour range of $0.01733 to $0.191. Coinbase listed TRUE at about $0.1177, up 537.59% over 24 hours from about $0.0249. Figures change quickly and are not investment advice.
The protocol said its experience on Base helped it determine what it needs to build for the next stage of the project.
“Our time on Base helped us understand what we need to build,” the protocol said. “Coming home to Ethereum mainnet is the next step toward achieving our ultimate vision.”
