The three original memecoins from the sector’s earliest cohort moved higher on Tuesday morning as the total cryptocurrency market capitalization pushed close to the $3 trillion mark.
Dogecoin (DOGE), Pepe (PEPE), and Shiba Inu (SHIB) each posted positive 24-hour price changes, with PEPE recording the steepest percentage advance and DOGE registering the largest absolute market-value increment of the three names in the group.
Global Crypto Market Approaches $3 Trillion
Market data captured on the morning of September 22, 2026 put total cryptocurrency market capitalization at $2,996,724,570,543, a 3.6% rise over the past 24 hours. Aggregate spot trading volume across the sector was $159.39 billion during the same window.
The session followed a period of improved risk appetite across large-capitalization digital assets, with Bitcoin (BTC) pushing toward the $90,000 level after breaking $80,000 resistance.
Pepe (PEPE) Leads the Percentage Chart
Pepe, an Ethereum-based memecoin launched in April 2023 and inspired by the Pepe the Frog internet meme, printed the sharpest 24-hour percentage change of the three tokens covered here. PEPE printed the sharpest 24-hour percentage move of the three tokens. It was trading at $0.000005153, up 28.4% over the trailing 24 hours.

The token traded between a session low of $0.000003993 and a high of $0.000005341 before consolidating around the $0.00000515 mark. 24-hour spot volume reached $1.536 billion against a market capitalization of $2.168 billion, which is also its FDV. Circulating, total, and maximum supply are all listed at 420.69 trillion tokens. PEPE ranked 48th by market cap in the same snapshot.
The volume-to-market-cap ratio was well above that of DOGE and SHIB, pointing to active two-way flow rather than a thin mark-up. A market note published about 10 hours before the capture referenced a 24% jump and elevated volume; the live quote at the time of the snapshot had extended that move to +28.4%. A related item noted an earlier 29% surge that lifted market capitalization through $2.08 billion.
Dogecoin (DOGE) Reclaims the $0.10 Handle
Dogecoin, the first memecoin ever launched and currently ranked 12th by market capitalization, traded at $0.1001 during the session, up 12.2% over the past 24 hours. The token printed an intraday high of $0.1019 and a low of $0.08782, with 24-hour turnover of $3.063 billion.

At those levels, DOGE carried a market capitalization of $15.45 billion and a fully diluted valuation (FDV) of $17.006 billion. Circulating supply stood at 156.015 billion tokens against a total supply of 171.728 billion, with no fixed maximum cap on issuance.
A CoinGecko sidebar note published roughly three hours before the capture cited a 14.4% surge accompanied by rising open interest and whale accumulation. Part of that move was retraced by the time of the screenshot, leaving DOGE with a +12.2% print after touching the $0.105 area intraday. The latest advance extends the pattern from Monday’s session, when Dogecoin gained 12% and trading volume touched $1.84 billion.
Shiba Inu (SHIB) Grinds Higher on Shibarium Fix
Shiba Inu, the Ethereum-based memecoin launched in August 2020 and often described by its community as the “Dogecoin killer,” posted a more modest advance than the other two tokens. CoinGecko data placed SHIB at $0.000006013, up 7.2% over the past 24 hours.

Price action stayed within a relatively tight band, running between $0.0000055 and $0.00000613, and the token finished the snapshot near the top of that range. Market capitalization stood at $3.51 billion, with FDV at $3.511 billion, placing SHIB at the 34th spot on the CoinGecko ranking.
24-hour volume came in at $197.253 million, the smallest of the three tokens by absolute measure and a smaller fraction of market cap than either DOGE or PEPE. Circulating supply stood at 589.239 trillion SHIB against a total supply of 589.496 trillion.
A note timestamped roughly seven hours before the capture described an 8% jump following a Shibarium reorganization fix and related infrastructure updates. Shibarium is the layer-2 (L2) scaling network built for the Shiba Inu ecosystem, designed to process transactions off the main Ethereum chain to reduce fees and improve throughput. A separate “yesterday” note on the same page recorded a 9% move amid higher trading activity.
Intraday Structure of the Three Charts
The three 24-hour charts on CoinGecko displayed different profiles. DOGE opened its window near $0.088, pushed through $0.10, spiked briefly toward $0.105, then retraced and settled at $0.1001.
PEPE built a base near $0.0000040, staged a vertical advance during the later hours of September 21, reached the $0.000005341 high, faded modestly, and then stabilized above $0.00000515.
SHIB followed a more gradual path, climbing steadily from $0.0000055 with an acceleration after 15:00 UTC on September 21 and a further lift on September 22.
All three charts displayed rising volume histograms into the advances, with DOGE and PEPE showing the more pronounced volume spikes. SHIB’s move was accompanied by a comparatively smaller relative volume expansion.
The advance came during a wider recovery that also lifted large-capitalization assets. Combined market capitalization of DOGE, PEPE, and SHIB was about $21.13 billion at the prices above. Memecoin prices are typically driven by liquidity, short-term positioning, and market-wide risk appetite, and they can reverse quickly.
Data Notes
Figures are from the Dogecoin, Pepe, and Shiba Inu market pages and the global market-cap widget as displayed on 22 September 2026. Percentage changes, ranges, and market-cap values are 24-hour trailing figures at the time of each page load and can differ by a few basis points on later refreshes.
Sidebar timestamps (about three, seven, and ten hours before capture) are contemporaneous labels from the data provider.
