Bitpanda Exits Netherlands Following New Eu Crypto Regulations

Crypto exchange Bitpanda recently announced in an email on January 26th that Dutch users will no longer be able to utilize the platform after January 31st. Bitpanda stated that this move is to “cooperate and comply with the latest regulatory landscape” in the Netherlands.

This exit comes after numerous other crypto platforms like Binance and Gemini also halted Dutch operations in 2023 due to regulatory issues stemming from the EU’s Markets in Crypto Asset Regulation that went into effect last June.

On Reddit, users suggested Amsterdam-based Bitvavo as an alternative for Dutch crypto traders following Bitpanda’s exit. However, many Dutch investors are still seeking clarity on if and when Bitpanda, Gemini, and Binance will be able to return to the market given the stricter regulatory environment.

For now, Dutch crypto traders will have to utilize alternatives like Bitvavo while the regulatory landscape remains in flux.
