The founder of the MakerDao, Rune Christensen announced pre-farming airdrop for Spark’s native SPK token. Spark protocol is launched by MakerDAO as a lending and borrowing marketplace for its DAI stablecoin.
In a latest proposal-post on MakerDAO’s forum, Rune shared an overview of the potential SPK token airdrop which shall be rewarded to protocol borrowers. The SPK will act as a governance token for SparkDAO of the Spark Protocol.
While introducing this proposal, Rune said, “This would be a way to secure early SPK tokens, before the SubDAOs launch.”
Rune proposes to distribute 2 billion SubDAO tokens for over 10 years, which will ultimately incentivize long-term protocol usage. Rune shares his plan to release tokens gradually with unlocking 500M in the first year.
Spark Protocol is expected to turn into a SubDAO which is a significant step towards MakerDAO’s endgame plan. MakerDAO previously described that subDAO will be an independent decentralized autonomous organization within MakerDAO.
MakerDAO launched Spark Protocol in May that allows borrowers to take loans against DAI, USDC, ETH and staked ETH. It has also introduced a DAI saving program which offers 8% APY.
