MetaMask Ties up with MoonPay to Offer more Payment Methods

Crypto wallet service provider Metamask has partnered with MoonPay to allow users to purchase ETH and other ERC-20 tokens with mainstream payment methods. These payment methods include credit/debit cards, bank transfers, and Apple Pay. MetaMask users can now use MoonPay to top up their crypto wallets.

MoonPay is on its mission to onboard the world to Web3. With this partnership, MoonPay gets access to over 30 million MetaMask users around the globe.

Existing users and new users are required to update to the latest version of Metamask, Mobile v4.4, and soon the extension v10.13.

Until now, users needed to use an external exchange to buy Ethereum and transfer it to MetaMask. MoonPay has simplified the process and has now added its application to the MetaMask interface. To upgrade, existing users will need to use MoonPay within Metamask and then click the blue buy button to buy Ethereum.

This feature allows users to add funds directly to their MetaMask accounts without the need for external centralized exchange in between. The aim is to make blockchain wallets like Metamask more accessible and user-friendly and is believed to help newcomers to enter the blockchain industry.

Due to regulatory reasons, Ethereum purchases on MoonPay are available in every US state except Texas, New York, Louisiana, Rhode Island, Hawaii, and the US Virgin Islands.

MoonPay also shared a tweet of the announced partnership with simple slides demonstrating how the mobile version of both applications could work together.

According to its latest announcement on its blog, MoonPay explained the advantages of MetaMask with its simplified connection mechanism to several popular marketplaces. Also, it detailed the importance of MetaMask in estimating gas fees for users to predict the required transactional cost.

It seems as though MoonPay is on its way to making crypto easier. Recently, OpenSea enabled Direct Card Payments via MoonPay for NFT buying. OpenSea now supports the integration where you can buy ETH with a “Buy with card” option depending on your geographic area.
