Travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic have compelled the entertainment industry to investigate the Metaverse.
The top paid female DJ Paris Hilton collaborated with The Sandbox, a decentralized gaming virtual world, to throw shapes and spin tunes.
The singer and actress teased her fans on Twitter, saying she was heading to Austin for a surprise performance at South by Southwest (SXSW).
“So I’m about to take off to Austin, Texas,” she said in the video. “I am going to be a surprise DJ at a really fun party tonight. Cannot wait. It’s tech weekend.”
She performed a special DJ set at The Sandbox’s immersive metaverse experience appearing as her voxel avatar to help kick off the party and create an environment in which her followers can indulge in all things fashion, music, and animals.
Hilton said, “I am a huge believer in the metaverse and the way Web3 technologies are empowering creators, gamers, and artists. It’s such an important movement and community that I’m proud to be a part of. I can’t wait for people to see what amazing experiences The Sandbox and I bring together to the metaverse.”
Paris became interested in NFTs in early 2022. She has been making and collecting NFTs since then and continues to demonstrate her enthusiasm for the metaverse. She recently dropped her autobiographical NFT collection ‘Past Live, New Beginnings’ on the Origin Story marketplace.
