Key Highlights
- Privy and Ripple announced a partnership on October 13 to bring Privy’s wallet infrastructure to the XRP Ledger.
- Developers will be able to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions, and build applications using XRP, RLUSD, and other supported digital assets.
- The integration supports x402 payments for agentic commerce, including applications where software agents hold and transact with funds.
Privy, a digital asset and embedded wallet infrastructure platform, and Ripple, a private technology company, have entered a partnership to bring Privy wallets to the XRP Ledger, according to an announcement from Privy on October 13. The arrangement is intended to allow developers to create and manage wallets on the network for payments and related applications.
According to the Privy announcement, developers will be able to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions, and build experiences using XRP, RLUSD, and other digital assets on the ledger.
Capabilities for developers
Developers building on the XRP Ledger with Privy will be able to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically through Privy’s infrastructure. They will also be able to sign XRPL transactions using that infrastructure and build applications with XRP, RLUSD, and other digital assets available on the network.
The integration supports x402 payments for agentic commerce. Users will retain the ability to export private keys and seed phrases, providing ownership and portability of their wallets.
For payments companies and fintech firms, embedded wallets make it possible to offer stablecoin payments without requiring users to manage cryptographic keys. Server-side wallets can also allow agents to hold and transact with funds, including through x402 payments.
Recent XRP Ledger developments
The partnership follows other recent activity involving the XRP Ledger. On October 9, the network activated the Batch amendment, identified as XLS-56. The feature enables multiple transactions to execute atomically within a single ledger close.
According to the official announcement, the Batch feature is now live. It permits up to eight XRP Ledger transactions from different accounts to be bundled and linked with dependencies. In all-or-nothing mode, failure of any inner transaction causes the entire batch to revert.
On September 29, Brazilian securities infrastructure provider CSD BR announced a project with Ripple that uses the XRP Ledger to create blockchain-based records of BTG Pactual investment fund shares. The initiative is designed to test whether a public blockchain can operate alongside Brazil’s existing securities infrastructure without replacing the regulated systems that currently determine ownership and settlement.
CSD BR, which handles the registration, custody, and settlement of financial assets in Brazil, will continue to maintain the official records. The XRP Ledger will provide an additional layer for authorized participants to check and audit ownership information in near real time. The project keeps the existing legal and operational framework in place while adding a blockchain-based layer for verification.
Privy’s announcement states that the partnership makes it easier for developers to build payments and agentic experiences on the XRP Ledger. The specific technical implementation details, pricing, and any additional service terms were not disclosed in the announcement.
The XRP Ledger’s existing scale, with more than 8 million funded accounts and $1 trillion in cumulative value moved, forms the background against which the wallet integration is being introduced, the announcement notes. Privy’s infrastructure is intended to allow developers to integrate XRPL wallets into applications while combining programmable transactions with user onboarding features.
