Bitcoin was trading near $82,418 on October 12 as prediction markets showed traders concentrating on the $80,000 level. Polymarket and Kalshi both put substantially higher probabilities on another downside move than on Bitcoin reaching the upper-$90,000 range before October ends.
Polymarket Gives Bitcoin 72% Chance of Falling to $80,000
Polymarket traders currently see $80,000 as Bitcoin’s most likely unresolved downside target for October, assigning the level a 72% probability.
Bitcoin was trading around $82,418.73 when the market was captured, leaving BTC roughly $2,419, or about 2.9%, above $80,000.

The probability declines progressively as the downside targets move further away. Traders put Bitcoin’s chances of touching $77,500 at 45%, while a fall to $75,000 carries a 28% probability. The odds of BTC reaching $72,500 stand at 18%.
The movement in those contracts is also notable. While the probability of touching $80,000 was down three percentage points, the $77,500 contract had risen eight points. Odds for $75,000 were up five points, while the $72,500 market had gained two points.
That leaves Polymarket pricing a relatively high chance of Bitcoin testing $80,000, but considerably less confidence that the decline would extend another $5,000 toward $75,000.
Bitcoin had already touched the $82,500 level tracked by the same market, which had resolved “Yes.”
Kalshi Prices 62% Chance Bitcoin Falls Below $80,000
Kalshi traders are also focused on $80,000, although their downside expectations are less aggressive than those currently priced on Polymarket.
The exchange assigns a 62% probability to Bitcoin trading below $80,000 during October. Kalshi’s market had generated approximately $244,836 in volume at the time of the reading.

Below that level, the probability of BTC falling under $77,500 stands at 39%. Traders put the chance of a move below $75,000 at 22%, while $72,500 carries a 13% probability.
More severe October declines remain relatively low-probability outcomes. Kalshi puts the chances of Bitcoin falling below $70,000 at 8%, below $67,500 at 6%, and below $65,000 at just 2%.
The displayed changes were moving lower across much of the downside curve. The probability for below $80,000 was down six percentage points, while $77,500 fell seven points and $75,000 declined eight points. The $72,500 contract was down seven points.
That creates an unusual contrast with Polymarket, where several deeper downside targets were simultaneously showing rising probabilities.
Bitcoin’s Odds of Crossing $90,000 Drop to 32% on Kalshi
Bitcoin’s upside outlook has weakened considerably on Kalshi as traders reduce the probability of a recovery toward $90,000 and above.
The exchange currently gives Bitcoin a 48% probability of trading above $87,500 during October. That reading was down 24 percentage points on Kalshi’s displayed change indicator.
The probability falls to 32% for Bitcoin trading above $90,000, down 18 points. At $92,500, the probability stands at 18%, while the odds of moving above $95,000 have fallen to 8%.
Higher targets are being priced as increasingly unlikely. Bitcoin has only a 5% probability of trading above $97,500 during October.
Kalshi’s October upside market had attracted approximately $706,761 in trading volume, nearly three times the volume shown on its downside market.
The difference in volume does not itself show whether traders are bullish or bearish, but it indicates considerably greater trading activity around Bitcoin’s upside price thresholds.
With BTC near $82,418, Bitcoin would need to gain roughly 9.2% to reach $90,000 and about 12.2% to reach $92,500. Kalshi traders currently give neither move better than a one-in-three probability.
Polymarket Prices Just 18% Chance of Bitcoin Reaching $92,500
Polymarket’s October upside contracts also show traders becoming increasingly cautious as Bitcoin price targets move further above current levels.
The market assigns an 18% probability to Bitcoin reaching $92,500 during October. At $97,500, the probability drops to just 8%.
From Bitcoin’s price near $82,418, a move to $92,500 would require an increase of around 12.2%, while reaching $97,500 would require a rally of roughly 18.3%.
The figures show a substantial asymmetry between Polymarket’s upside and downside markets. Traders place a 72% probability on Bitcoin touching $80,000, compared with only an 18% chance of BTC reaching $92,500.
The $75,000 downside target, despite sitting more than $7,000 below Bitcoin’s current price, carries a 28% probability—10 percentage points higher than the probability assigned to $92,500 on the upside.
That positioning shows how heavily October’s current Polymarket expectations are tilted toward a test of lower levels rather than a return toward Bitcoin’s higher monthly targets.
Polymarket Traders Price More Bitcoin Downside Than Kalshi
Polymarket and Kalshi broadly agree that $80,000 is Bitcoin’s key downside level, but the two prediction markets differ on the probability of getting there.
Polymarket puts the probability of BTC touching $80,000 at 72%, compared with Kalshi’s 62% probability of falling below the same level—a difference of 10 percentage points.
The gap remains at the deeper targets. Polymarket gives Bitcoin a 45% chance of reaching $77,500, compared with 39% on Kalshi. At $75,000, Polymarket prices the probability at 28%, while Kalshi stands at 22%.
For $72,500, Polymarket shows an 18% probability against Kalshi’s 13%.
| Bitcoin October target | Polymarket | Kalshi | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| $80,000 downside | 72% | 62% | 10 pts |
| $77,500 downside | 45% | 39% | 6 pts |
| $75,000 downside | 28% | 22% | 6 pts |
| $72,500 downside | 18% | 13% | 5 pts |
| $92,500 upside | 18% | 18% | 0 pts |
| $97,500 upside | 8% | 5% | 3 pts |
The closest agreement comes at $92,500, where both markets show an 18% probability around the comparable October target.
For now, the larger disagreement is concentrated on the downside: Polymarket traders are consistently assigning higher probabilities than Kalshi traders to Bitcoin falling through the main price levels below $82,500.
