Why is AVAX up today
The AVAX price surge follows several developments related to tokenization activity on the Avalanche network. According to the official announcement on September 17, New York Life Investment Management, which manages $807 billion in assets, announced it is bringing its first tokenized fund to Avalanche.
Through Centrifuge, the HYB fund brings NYLIM’s U.S. High Yield Corporate Bond Strategy on-chain. The offering gives eligible investors access to an actively managed portfolio of high-yield U.S. corporate bonds directly on Avalanche.
Separately, Aave is developing a lending market for tokenized real-world assets on Avalanche, with Tether’s USAT planned as the initial dollar liquidity asset.
According to an announcement posted on X on September 16, the market forms part of Aave’s V4 deployment on Avalanche and would allow eligible tokenized financial assets to be used as collateral for stablecoin borrowing. Aave has not disclosed which assets would qualify as collateral or when the proposed market could launch.
Another reason pushing the surge
Another reason that pushed the surge came after the cryptocurrency market turned positive on Saturday, with total market capitalization rising more than 4% to approximately $2.88 trillion. Bitcoin led the advance, moving above $80,000 to $81,383 within 24 hours as trading activity increased and inflows returned to U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds.
CoinGecko data showed Bitcoin up about 1.2% over the period, lifting its market capitalization above $1.633 trillion on 24-hour trading volume of roughly $34.091 billion. The move accelerated on Friday from an early level of $74,584.15, when market capitalization stood near $1.57 trillion, taking the asset further above the $80,000 threshold.
UAE digital identity platform claim
Avalanche stated on Monday that its network is now the infrastructure powering the document vault built into the United Arab Emirates’ national digital identity platform. The announcement named the country’s federal telecommunications regulator and a Dubai-based advisory firm as the parties behind the integration.
Neither entity has confirmed the arrangement publicly, and neither the scope of the deployment nor its production status was disclosed.
