ARK Invest bought Block, Nvidia, and Securitize while selling Roblox, Shopify, Palantir, and AMD on August 17, according to the firm’s latest trade disclosures. The buying included several companies with exposure to crypto, AI, or tokenization, led by a large Block purchase in ARK’s flagship fund.
ARK Buys Block, a Bitcoin-Focused Fintech
ARK’s largest trade of the day was Block, Inc. (NYSE: XYZ), the payments company led by Jack Dorsey, purchased across two funds. The ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) bought 182,899 shares, its single biggest position change of the session, while the ARK Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF) added 8,772 shares.
Block is a name of particular interest to crypto followers. Beyond its Square and Cash App businesses, the company holds bitcoin on its balance sheet, has built bitcoin-related products including self-custody and Lightning Network tools, and has invested in bitcoin mining hardware, giving it multiple points of exposure to the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Nvidia and Securitize Round Out the Buying
ARK continued to accumulate Nvidia (Nasdaq: NVDA), buying the AI chipmaker across five funds — ARKK, ARKQ, ARKW, ARKF, and ARKX — for a combined 101,356 shares.
For crypto-focused readers, ARK also bought Securitize (NYSE: SECZ), a real-world-asset tokenization platform, which ARKF bought again, 189,796 shares, equal to about 0.13% of the fund, extending purchases the firm has made on the stock’s recent weakness. ARK also made a small addition to the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF (TSX: SOLQ.U), buying a combined 7,115 shares across ARKW and ARKF. That fund offers direct exposure to Solana’s price plus staking rewards, and its repeated appearance in ARK’s trades adds another digital-asset-related position to the day’s purchases.
ARKF also bought Nu Holdings (NYSE: NU), the Brazilian digital bank, and biotech names including Tempus AI, Ionis, and Scribe Therapeutics were added to the genomics fund.
Heavy Selling in Roblox, Shopify, Palantir, and AMD
The sell side was substantial and spread across several holdings. ARK’s largest sale by share count was Roblox (NYSE: RBLX), with ARKK selling 592,227 shares, about 0.36% of the fund. ARK also sold 105,530 Shopify (Nasdaq: SHOP) shares through ARKK and continued to trim Palantir Technologies (Nasdaq: PLTR), selling 22,023 shares through ARKF. ARK’s disclosed trades showed buying in Nvidia alongside selling in Advanced Micro Devices (Nasdaq: AMD) across four funds — ARKQ, ARKW, ARKF, and ARKX.
Other reductions included 10x Genomics, Twist Bioscience, Natera, CareDx, and the biotech holding labeled ATAI in the genomics fund, along with small sales of Brera Holdings across several funds.
How the Trades Fit ARK’s Recent Strategy
The August 17 trades continue several themes visible in ARK’s recent disclosures, including purchases of crypto-related, AI, and technology companies.
The combination of Block, Securitize, and the Solana ETF stands out for its digital-asset exposure, following its August 13 purchases of Securitize and a Solana staking ETF and its earlier additions of Coinbase and Circle during selloffs.
The trades also continue ARK’s recent Nvidia buying, with the firm purchasing the AI-chip company repeatedly in recent weeks, even as it exits AMD, and its continued selling of Palantir and reducing its Roblox position. Because ARK’s trade notifications do not provide reasons for individual transactions, these moves should not be interpreted as explicit statements about the companies’ future prospects.
What the Latest Trades Show
The disclosure offers a snapshot of how ARK positioned across crypto, AI, and biotech during the session. Block was the standout purchase, backed by continued Nvidia and Securitize buying and a small Solana ETF add, while the firm reduced exposure to Roblox, Shopify, Palantir, and AMD.
ARK’s trade disclosure does not state a rationale for the individual trades, so any connection to earnings moves or market themes is an interpretation rather than a stated view from the firm. The transactions reflect portfolio changes by ARK Invest and should not, by themselves, be treated as recommendations to buy, sell, or hold the securities involved.
