Robinhood, a financial services company, is rolling out Agentic Trading for crypto to eligible users. The service allows users to connect to an agent through the Robinhood Trading MCP (Model Context Protocol) server to trade crypto alongside equities and options from a dedicated agentic account. Trading is limited to the funds deposited by the user into that account.
In an X post on Monday, Robinhood stated, “Your agent works the night shift now. Agentic Trading for crypto is rolling out now to eligible users.”
Background on agentic trading launch
The feature first launched in beta on May 27, 2026, covering equities. On that date, Robinhood Markets introduced Agentic Trading and Agentic Credit Card as new services that would allow clients to connect AI agents to the platform for trading and purchasing.
According to the May 27 announcement, Agentic Trading enables customers to open a brokerage account separate from their main portfolio. AI agents linked to the account can perform trading activities using only the money deposited by the user. Every trade notification is sent to the customer via the app, along with a real-time activity feed and profit/loss figures.
The company stated at the time that the launch would begin in beta and that the initial scope would be limited to equities. Plans were outlined to expand the service to options, cryptocurrencies, event contracts, futures, and additional asset classes.
Details of the Crypto Expansion
The current rollout extends the same framework to cryptocurrency. Eligible users can now connect an agent via the Robinhood Trading MCP server. Once connected, the agent can trade crypto in addition to equities and options. All activity continues to occur within the dedicated Agentic Account and is restricted to the funds the user has deposited into that account. Trade notifications, a real-time activity feed, and profit/loss figures remain part of the service as originally described in the May 27 announcement.
The expansion follows the sequence outlined earlier, in which equities were the initial asset class and cryptocurrencies were listed among the planned subsequent additions. No changes to the core account structure or notification system were described in the latest update.
Venture fund activity
In a separate development recently, Robinhood has raised $225.5 million for its second venture fund. According to a report from Reuters, Robinhood’s Ventures Fund II (RVII) debuted on the New York Stock Exchange on August 13 after pricing 8 million shares at $25 each.
The fund targets early-stage startups, including companies in the crypto sector. The initial public offering provided retail investors with a vehicle to gain exposure to private companies.
