Fireblocks Taps Former SEC Chair Elad Roisman for Regulatory Role
Former SEC Chair Elad Roisman Joins Fireblocks as Policy Chief

Key Highlights

  • Elad Roisman joins Fireblocks as Chief Regulatory and Policy Officer and General Counsel, Regulatory.
  • He previously served as an SEC Commissioner and Acting Chairman, voting on over 100 rulemakings and 1,000 enforcement actions.
  • The appointment is effective immediately, with Roisman based in Washington, D.C.

Fireblocks has appointed former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Acting Chairman Elad Roisman as Chief Regulatory and Policy Officer and General Counsel, Regulatory, expanding its Washington policy leadership as U.S. lawmakers and regulators develop new rules for stablecoins and digital asset markets.

According to an official press release dated August 17, 2026, Roisman joins from law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where he co-led the firm’s Digital Assets Practice. He will lead regulatory strategy and policy engagement at Fireblocks, along with legal work tied to regulatory matters.

Roisman will also serve as the company’s principal liaison to regulators and standards bodies as digital asset rules take shape across the United States, Europe, and other major markets.

Roisman brings SEC and market structure experience

Roisman previously served as an SEC Commissioner and Acting Chairman, where he voted on more than 100 rulemakings and over 1,000 enforcement actions. He represented the agency before Congress and international bodies including the International Organization of Securities Commissions and the Financial Stability Board.

Before joining the SEC, he served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, and held the same role at NYSE Euronext.

Most recently at Cravath, Roisman advised financial institutions and fintech companies on digital asset regulation and testified before Congress on market structure legislation.

Fireblocks had already expanded its regulatory team

Roisman’s appointment follows other senior hires by Fireblocks in regulatory and technical areas.

The company previously brought in Peter Marton, a former New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) regulator who worked on the agency’s digital asset oversight, as well as Chaitanya Reddy Konda, a cryptographer and blockchain engineer known for his work on EY’s Nightfall project.

The earlier appointments added regulatory and technical expertise to Fireblocks as it works with financial institutions on digital asset infrastructure. Roisman’s role is more directly focused on policy, regulatory strategy and engagement with government agencies.

Regulatory landscape shifting fast

The appointment comes as stablecoins increasingly function as a settlement rail for institutions, while tokenized versions of traditional assets move from pilot programs into production.

The United States now has a federal stablecoin law in place and is negotiating broader market structure legislation. The European Union is implementing its MiCA framework, and regulators across Asia and the Middle East are setting their own standards.

For the banks, payment companies, and asset managers that operate on Fireblocks, those rules will shape how quickly they can scale onchain revenue.

Fireblocks leadership weighs in

Michael Shaulov, Fireblocks’ co-founder and CEO, said the hire reflects the company’s effort to stay close to regulatory developments as institutional adoption accelerates.

“Having people who understand the mindset and missions of regulators enables us to help inform policymakers and support our clients as rules come into place,” Shaulov said.

Roisman described the current period as an active one for digital asset policymaking. “There has never been more interest and work done by regulators and legislators to enable further innovation in this important space,” he said.

Roisman will be based in Washington, D.C., and the appointment is effective immediately. The move adds a former top U.S. securities regulator to Fireblocks’ leadership at a time when the company’s digital asset infrastructure supports a growing base of banks, payment firms and asset managers navigating an increasingly fragmented global rulebook.
