ARK sold 12,119 Robinhood shares worth $1.16 million and trimmed Solmate, signaling rotation

Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest rotated deeper into space and Solana while stepping back from Robinhood on Monday, according to the firm’s daily trade notification dated July 27, 2026.

Across four active ETFs, ARK bought 124,543 shares of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX) worth roughly $14.1 million, and 4,799 shares of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF (SOLQ.U) worth approximately $30,000. On the sell side, ARK offloaded 12,119 shares of Robinhood Markets Inc. (NASDAQ: HOOD) worth around $1.16 million, alongside a smaller trim of Solana treasury company Solmate (NASDAQ: SLMT).

SpaceX Accumulation Runs Into a Fifth Consecutive Week

The SPCX buy was ARK’s flagship trade of the day. ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) took the bulk of it at 78,031 shares, followed by ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF (ARKQ) at 25,442, ARK Space Exploration & Innovation ETF (ARKX) at 10,701, and ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW) at 10,369.

Based on SPCX’s Monday close near $114.87, the aggregate spend is roughly $14.31 million, which aligns with ARK’s disclosed cost. The stock is now trading below its $135 IPO price and about 49% under its post-listing peak of $225.64, wiping out over $1.2 trillion in market value since June, a drawdown roughly the size of Tesla’s entire market cap.

Wood is treating that drawdown as an entry, not an exit. ARK has now spent north of $475 million on SPCX since the June 12 listing and has not sold a single share from its public ETFs. The firm’s internal valuation model still points to an enterprise value of $2.5 trillion to $3.1 trillion for SpaceX by 2030, anchored in Starlink and future satellite communications revenue.

Solana Exposure Extended Through SOLQ.U

The Solana leg of Monday’s trades was small in dollar terms but thematically consistent. ARKF added 2,040 shares of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF (SOLQ.U), and ARKW picked up 2,759 shares, for a combined 4,799 shares worth about $30,000 at SOLQ.U’s recent trading range near $6.

The Toronto-listed 3iQ product remains the only regulated vehicle offering U.S. investors indirect exposure to SOL along with staking yield, and it is the same instrument ARK first used in April 2025 to open its Solana position. Cumulative ARK exposure to SOLQ.U now runs into the tens of millions of dollars across ARKW and ARKF, a run rate that has picked up as SOL held key support and the U.S. spot Solana ETF pipeline moved forward.

Monday’s addition also lands two trading days after ARK bought a larger 28,018-share SOLQ.U tranche across the same two funds, worth roughly $168,000, signaling that Wood is layering the position rather than making a single directional call.

Robinhood Trim Continues a Multi-Week Rotation

The 12,119 HOOD shares came out of ARKW, and at Monday’s $95.65 close, translate to about $1.16 million in proceeds. It is the latest in a string of Robinhood trims: ARK sold roughly 41,322 shares worth $4.1 million on July 20, and 97,325 shares worth $10.35 million on July 22.

The pattern reads as profit-taking rather than a thesis break. HOOD sits within a 52-week band of $63.52 to $153.86, and ARK has been reducing exposure as the stock has rebounded from its lows. Robinhood also priced a $2.2 billion offering of 0.00% Convertible Senior Notes due 2029 earlier this month, adding to the supply-side pressure that funds like ARK typically use as a rebalancing trigger.

Solmate (SLMT) Also Trimmed, Even as SOLQ.U Is Bought

The more nuanced signal on the day sits inside ARK’s Solana book. While the firm added SOLQ.U, it also sold 11,800 shares of Solmate (SLMT), the Nasdaq-listed Solana treasury company that ARK backed in a $300 million PIPE alongside the Solana Foundation and RockawayX in September 2025. The sale spanned ARKK (7,167 shares), ARKW (2,838 shares) and ARKF (1,795 shares).

SLMT, formerly Brera Holdings, has cratered more than 90% from its post-PIPE highs near $249 to under $5, hit by a delayed annual report, board disputes, and broader weakness in SOL treasury vehicles. The split action, buying regulated SOL ETF exposure while stepping back from a distressed treasury equity, suggests ARK is preserving its Solana thesis but rerouting it through cleaner instruments.

Other Notable Trades on the Day

Beyond the crypto-adjacent names, ARK bought 27,864 shares of Tesla (TSLA) worth about $8.6 million across ARKK and ARKQ, 20,000 shares of Pony AI (PONY), and 12,772 shares of Kodiak AI (KDK). It sold 72,497 shares of 10X Genomics (TXG), 47,252 shares of Iridium (IRDM), 97,667 shares of Strata Critical Medical (SRTA), 9,407 shares of Deere & Co (DE), and 1,529 shares of Caterpillar (CAT).

The composition confirms ARK’s ongoing rotation away from legacy industrials and select biotech names into space, autonomy, and AI-linked equities, with digital-asset exposure held steady through ETFs rather than treasury stocks.

What to Watch

Three near-term catalysts frame the SPCX trade. SpaceX will publish its first-ever quarterly earnings on August 4, followed by a potential release of up to 911.5 million locked-up shares from August 6. Wood has publicly called the recent Starship splashdown “potentially game-changing,” but the lockup expiry remains the single largest overhang on the stock.

On the crypto side, the incremental SOLQ.U buying will be worth tracking against any U.S. spot Solana ETF approvals, which would give ARK a domestic vehicle to consolidate its SOL exposure and reduce reliance on the Canadian-listed product.

For now, Monday’s tape reads clean. Wood is buying weakness in SpaceX, holding her Solana thesis through the cleanest available ETF wrapper, and rotating out of the two positions, HOOD and SLMT, that have already delivered their trade.
