Binance App Pulled From EU Google Play Store Amid MiCA Scrutiny

“We are actively engaging with Google to find a constructive solution and remain committed to providing secure and reliable services in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements,” Binance said in a statement shared with The Crypto Times.

Binance App Pulled From EU Google Play Store Amid MiCA Scrutiny

Binance’s Android application has disappeared from Google Play search results and new downloads in certain European Union countries have halted, marking the latest complication for the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange as it navigates the bloc’s strict Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory regime.

The development comes weeks after the July 1, 2026 end of MiCA’s transitional period. Under the new framework, platforms offering crypto-asset services to EU customers generally require Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization.

Binance’s Android app removal from Google Play in certain EU countries stems from Google’s enforcement of rules against unlicensed financial service providers
The exchange’s MiCA license application withdrawal in Greece and lack of EU-wide authorization have led to restricted services and onboarding in multiple countries
Binance is working with Google to resolve the issue, emphasizing its commitment to regulatory compliance and securing authorization in another EU member state

Binance withdrew its MiCA license application with Greece’s Hellenic Capital Market Commission in late June and said it would pursue authorization in another EU member state. Without a passportable EU-wide license in place, the exchange has already restricted certain services and onboarding in multiple countries while keeping withdrawals available.

The removal appears linked to Google’s enforcement of rules against apps from providers lacking required local authorizations for financial or crypto services in regulated jurisdictions. No separate public statement from Google regarding the Binance listing has surfaced. For existing users who already have the app installed, functionality may continue for the time being.

New users or those seeking reinstalls face barriers in the affected regions and are directed toward the Binance website or other access methods. The exchange’s platform services, including trading and the main website, show no widespread outage according to independent status monitors.

Binance Issues Statement Reassuring Users on Safety and Next Steps

In an exclusive statement shared with The Crypto Times, Binance team said that the company was aware Google Play had updated its policies, “affecting the availability of crypto app updates in certain markets,” and that Binance was working with Google on a solution.

“We are aware that Google Play has updated its policies, affecting the availability of crypto app updates in certain markets,” Binance said. “We are actively engaging with Google to find a constructive solution and remain committed to providing secure and reliable services in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.”

In a broader June 24, 2026 blog post titled “Important Update for Our European Users,” Binance had already addressed the Greek application withdrawal. The company emphasized that “your assets remain safe and secure, and will remain accessible at all times.” It stated it would contact affected users directly with next steps, options, and timelines, while reaffirming its long-term commitment to operating under a clear MiCA framework in Europe.

“Europe is an important region for Binance, and our ambition to operate under a clear, fair, and harmonized MiCA framework remains unchanged,” the announcement read. “We continue to support MiCA’s goal of creating a consistent regulatory framework for crypto assets across the EU, and we are confident we will secure authorization in another EU Member State in the coming months.”

On July 1, as MiCA-related changes took effect, Binance posted on X that it remained committed to supporting users “with clarity, care, and responsibility,” repeating that assets are held on a 1:1 basis and that affected customers would continue to have access to transfers and withdrawals where applicable.

The episode highlights the practical consequences of MiCA’s harmonized but rigorous standards on custody, transparency, and licensing. While several exchanges have secured CASP approvals, Binance’s path remains incomplete. The company has signaled it is engaging with regulators and remains focused on a compliant presence in the region.

As of July 28, 2026, the situation continues to evolve. Binance’s ability to restore full Google Play availability will likely depend on progress toward a new EU authorization and ongoing discussions with Google. In the meantime, the restriction serves as a visible reminder of how regulatory compliance is reshaping access to major crypto platforms across Europe.
