Key Highlights
- WisdomTree withdrew its XRP ETF application with the SEC and no shares were sold.
- U.S. spot XRP ETFs have seen over $1.25 billion in inflows so far in 2026.
- XRP price dipped to around $2.20 after the withdrawal, but ETF demand remains strong.
WisdomTree, an asset manager based in New York, has withdrawn its XRP ETF application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company, which manages over $113 billion in assets, submitted the original S-1 registration on December 2, 2024, seeking to launch a spot ETF that would track Ripple’s XRP coin.
In its latest filing on January 6, WisdomTree requested permission to withdraw the registration statement, including all exhibits and amendments.
“Pursuant to Rule 477 of Regulation C under the Securities Act of 1933, WisdomTree XRP Fund hereby requests that the Securities and Exchange Commission consent to the withdrawal of the Trust’s Registration Statement on Form S-1,” the filing stated. The firm said it “has determined not to proceed at this time.” No shares were sold under the registration.
Strong demand for XRP ETFs continues
The withdrawal comes as U.S.-based spot XRP ETFs continue to see strong inflows. According to SoSoValue data, total inflows into XRP ETFs have surpassed $1.25 billion in the first days of 2026.

On January 6 alone, net inflows totaled $19.12 million, with Franklin Templeton’s XRPZ ETF receiving $7.35 million. Canary’s XRPC and Bitwise’s XRP ETFs collected $6.49 million and $3.54 million, respectively. The total net assets of XRP ETFs now stand at approximately $1.62 billion. In short, despite WisdomTree stepping back, the demand for XRP exposure remains high.
Aside from the five XRP ETFs that had been launched, the SEC still had several other applications piled up on its desk, including applications from Grayscale, CoinShares, and Bitwise. These applications were filed last year and are still waiting for SEC approval. Some of these applications were delayed due to the U.S. government shutdown, which occurred in October 2025.
XRP price reaction
Following the filing update, XRP’s price saw a short-term pullback. At the time of writing, the token is down 5.53% from the previous day and now trades for $2.20, wiping out about $5 billion in market cap.
XRP started the year strong near $2.4 after forming a trading base between $1.77 and $1.95. Analysts noted that support levels around $2.05 to $2.10 will be key for sustaining a rebound, while resistance clusters near $2.33 to $2.35 could determine the next breakout toward $2.64 and possibly $3.

Broader Ripple developments
Ripple has continued to expand its core business. Its GTreasury unit recently acquired Solvexia, a finance automation and analytics firm, to improve its services across finance and compliance teams.
Ripple has also launched spot prime brokerage services for U.S. institutional clients to facilitate over-the-counter trading of a variety of digital assets.
The WisdomTree XRP ETF withdrawal remains a topic of discussion. Reports circulated on X suggest that the firm requested the withdrawal, but there has been no official public confirmation from the SEC or WisdomTree so far. Nevertheless, the XRP ETF market remains active, with other spot XRP ETFs continuing to attract strong inflows. Whether WisdomTree will refile in the future remains uncertain.
