The Tron network founder, Justin Sun, has announced that the Tron network is set to implement a change by lowering Tron fees by 60%. The new reduction of fees will begin at 8 PM ET (5:30 AM IST) on Saturday, August 30, 2025. This fee reduction is the largest cut the Tron network has ever implemented since its inception.
Justin Sun led Tron’s Super Representatives in formulating this plan and shared the announcement in an X post. This initiative by the firm represents the largest fee cut since Tron’s inception and will enhance TRON’s competitive advantage and promote the development of its ecosystem.
According to the proposal, the change includes lowering the cost of energy units from 210 sun to 100 sun, which affects things like sending TRC20 tokens, using smart contracts, and handling stablecoins.Â
Voting on the proposal to reduce fees began on August 26, and the proposal came into effect on August 29. The goal is to encourage more people to use Tron and increase the number of transactions, with the new fees starting at the set time.
Justin Sun Highlights Three Points on Tron’s Fee Reduction
Justin Sun shared his thoughts on the new fee reduction plan and outlined three main points. In the first point, he said the 60% fee drop will really help users by making Tron cheaper to use, which is not common on other networks.
In the second, he admitted that lowering fees by 60% might hurt the network’s profits for a short time, but more users and transactions could boost earnings in the long run.
Lastly, he explained that the Tron Super Representatives will review the fees every three months and adjust them according to changes in TRX prices. He also stated that the network aims to achieve growth while maintaining a balance between profitability and competitiveness.
This change comes at a time when more people are showing interest in Tron’s stablecoins, such as USD1, which has experienced a notable rise in trading activity. However, additional details on it will be provided once the change takes effect.
