MetaMask has launched a “Gas Station” feature designed to avoid failed transactions when a user runs out of ETH while using the MetaMask Swaps.
This new feature is available for users who have activated Smart Transactions on the Ethereum mainnet via the MetaMask Extension. There is also a mobile version coming soon.
With this feature, users will no longer need to keep an ETH balance to pay for network fees, according to the press release.

Instead, the gas fees are now included in the total sum of the swap, which expedites the transactions. This allows users to skip the extra step in the on-ramping process where users get ETH from centralized exchanges and transfer it to their wallet, therefore saving time and reducing stress.
The feature also maintains MetaMask’s competitive pricing, as users can use DEX aggregators or liquidity providers to gain the best swap rates for the smallest network fees.
Users can pay gas fees with USDT, USDC, DAI, ETH, wETH, wBTC, wstETH, and wSOL as long as the value of the swap is sufficient enough to include these costs.
