Recently, an informal on-chain voting was hosted at votedannyryan.com which has shown a huge support for Danny Ryan to become the next leader of the Ethereum Foundation.
In this poll around 296 ETH Holders (holding over 50,000 ETH) have participated to cast gas-free votes using their ETH wallets. Of the 296 voters, 279 votes – which is around 99% – have voted in favor of Danny Ryan.
Danny Ryan is a former researcher and developer of Ethereum and it has played an important role in transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake in Ethereum’s 2.0 “The Merge” upgrade.
This voting was conducted by an Ethereum community member Fabrice Cheng with an aim to have a platform for the Ethereum community to cast their views and also highlights the importance of the need for community involvement in leadership decisions.
This informal voting has highlighted the ongoing discussions within the Ethereum community about leadership change. Through this voting, some Ethereum community members have shown concerns about the current leadership inefficiencies in managing the Ethereum Foundation and suggest that Ryan’s expertise can fulfill Ethereum’s long-term goals.
Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin has also supported Danny Ryan to step in as a leader of the Ethereum Foundation. Lubin points out that Ryan has the potential to bring Energy, Expertise, and Technical focus to the Ethereum Foundation.
However, this voting is informal and does not mandate any leadership changes. Vitalik Buterin has also stated to wait for a new leader until more structured governance reforms are implemented.
Danny Ryan has also shown his interest in a leadership role as he stated that he has discussions with Vitalik Buterin and others at the foundation regarding leadership change.
While it is just an informal voting, the move has shown the Ethereum community’s desire for leadership change and highlights the active community participation in the Ethereum foundation.
