Football Stars Sued for Endorsing $3B Omegapro Scam

A storm is brewing for several European football stars as they face potential legal action linked to Omegapro, a controversial cryptocurrency pyramid scheme. This operation has allegedly swindled over $3 billion from more than 3 million customers, many of whom trusted the company based on endorsements from famous players like Ronaldinho, Vinicius, Kaká, Luis Figo, Iker Casillas, Carles Puyol, Roberto Carlos, and Fernando Hierro, among others,

Omegapro began its operations in 2020, promising astonishing returns of 300% within just 14 months. However, as the scheme unfolded, it became clear that the promises were too good to be true.

The investment period was extended multiple times, eventually stretching to 26 months, and in late 2022, the company reportedly suffered a major hack that left many users without access to their funds.

Hundreds of victims are preparing to sue the implicated footballers, claiming that their involvement lent credibility to the fraudulent platform. Dolores, a victim who lost her savings, expressed her disbelief: “How could it be a scam? The footballers were involved, and the company logo was projected onto a skyscraper in Dubai!”

The football stars have mostly denied any wrongdoing, stating that their participation was limited to promotional events and games organized by Omegapro, often due to connections with the United Arab Emirates government.

However, Lars Olofsson, the attorney representing the victims, is determined to hold all involved accountable. “All football players who have been seen at Omegapro events will be sued by us in London,” he emphasized.

While some celebrities, like Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather, have faced lawsuits for similar promotional activities in the cryptocurrency space, experts suggest that the success of these legal claims in Spain may be uncertain.
