The DOGS memecoin’s highly anticipated Token Generation Event (TGE) has been postponed from August 23rd to August 26th, 2024.
The DOGS team outlined the updated timeline in a statement on their official Telegram channel. The new timeline includes the following key dates:
- Claim to exchanges and Telegram Wallet: Open until 4 pm UTC on August 23rd.
- Claim to non-custodial wallets: Available from 8 am UTC on August 26th.
- TGE and listing: Scheduled for 12 pm UTC on August 26th.
The decision follows a massive surge in interest, with over 8 million verified users registering for direct deposits of their DOGS tokens to exchange wallets and the Telegram Wallet. This overwhelming demand led the DOGS team to delay the TGE to ensure all users have sufficient time to claim their tokens.
The delay has not dampened enthusiasm, as DOGS continues to trend on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter). The token’s popularity is reflected in the preparations by major centralized exchanges, including Binance, Gate.io, and Bitget, which are gearing up to list DOGS. The community remains optimistic, with many users appreciating the extra time to secure their tokens.
The DOGS team emphasized that their priority is ensuring a smooth and fair TGE process, even if the delay is frustrating for some. The extension reflects their commitment to accommodating the rapidly growing user base.
