Hakuhodo Inc. and Japan Airlines Co. Ltd. (JAL) are collaborating to launch a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). According to their recent blog post, they are excited for the upcoming second trial run of “KOKYO NFT” in February 2024.
This initiative involves converting real-world assets (RWA) into non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and attracting both domestic and international buyers from six regions of Japan to become part of the local community.
A demonstration experiment showcasing six distinct “KOKYO NFT” types is set to take place, with sales and distribution occurring on the “Astar zkEVM Powered by Polygon” Ethereum layer 2 blockchain, followed by secondary trading on the “Rarible” NFT marketplace.
Each NFT offers exclusive experiences ranging from fireworks displays in Toyako Town to samurai experiences in Yanagawa City.
- The NFT sale for Toyako Town’s fireworks launch rights begins on March 24, 2024, priced at ¥36,300 (approx. $245.39).
- Mito City offers NFTs granting access to rare Sake experiences for ¥80,000 (approx. $540.80) and is scheduled for March 3, 2024.
- Echizen City’s NFTs, known for facilitating custom knife crafting, are priced at ¥363,000 (approx. $2453.90) and scheduled for March 24, 2024.
- Yanagawa City’s samurai membership NFTs, scheduled for March 24, 2024, will cost ¥440,000 (approx. $2974.42).
- The Tanegashima Space Art Festival offers jointly owned NFT art with sales starting March 24, 2024, for ¥36,300 (approx. $245.39).
- The resale of Amami NFT includes the opportunity to own music-infused brown sugar shochu experiences, with sales beginning March 24, 2024, at ¥36,300 (approx. $245.39).
These six types of “KOKYO NFTs” will be available alongside promotional activities featuring dynamic NFTs (Origami) from February 5 to March 17, 2024. These dynamic NFTs will showcase the evolution of origami, a globally recognized Japanese art form.
The dynamic NFTs campaign entails:
- Free distribution of NFTs to participants upon completion of their initial mission on the designated website (limited availability).
- Weekly missions led to the transformation of the NFT image, reflecting the gradual formation of origami.
- Participants who fulfill all seven missions and complete the origami will gain priority access to purchase “KOKYO NFTs”.
