The retired Brazilian soccer star, Ronaldihno has denied being a part of an alleged $61 million crypto scam in front of at congressional hearing.

In a court hearing, the star footballer refused his involvement with the company named 18kRonaldinho. The congressional hearing took place on 31st August in Brasília, the capital of Brazil.

The company, 18kRonaldinho allegedly pulled out a pyramid scheme promising 2% daily returns on investors’ crypto capital. The lawsuit against Ronaldinho and the company was filed after it failed to provide any returns.

While clarifying his role, Ronaldinho explained that he is also a victim of this fraudulent activity. Ronaldinho’s legal team has also previously denied the charges by claiming that the company has used the star footballer’s name and image without proper authorization.

The inquiry’s president, Aureo Ribeiro, asked Ronaldinho if he intended to reimburse those who invested in the company, to which Ronaldinho said he would remain silent. He also did not respond when asked about the $61 million lawsuit.

It also comes to note that Ronaldinho has avoided two prior hearings in the case and eventually failed to testify against the investigation.

This third hearing was his last chance to clear himself in front of congress or else the law enforcement would have taken legal action against him.
