Opera Announces Elrond Blockchain

The Web3 crypto browser Opera has announced its plans to integrate the Elrond blockchain services. This will help Opera users access a host of decentralized applications (DApps) and other popular services through the integrated Opera wallet.

This integration will take place towards the end of 2022.

Opera users will also gain access to the Elrond Standard Digital Token (ESDT). ESDT is a native standard issuance token in addition to the native EGLD tokens. Users will be able to take part without relying on a third-party wallet.

“The seamless integration of Elrond further expands the wide array of crypto-centric services available to Opera Crypto Browser users. Such interoperability is becoming increasingly important for any project aiming to embrace Web3, and we are excited to have another blockchain partner join us on our mission to accelerate the evolution of the internet” said Susie Batt, Crypto Ecosystem Lead at Opera.

Elrond blockchain is one of the first European carbon-negative blockchains, ensuring Opera users will have access to eco-friendly solutions. The blockchain was launched in 2020, and is focused on accessibility, high transaction speeds, security, and user experience.

Beniamin Mincu, the CEO of Elrond Network said, “We’re excited to be tapping into Opera’s vast userbase to offer them cheaper, faster transactions as well as access to Elrond’s burgeoning dapp ecosystem.”
