Queen Elizabeth II NFT Tribute Projects near Final Auction

After releasing dozens of pixel portraits of the late monarch over the last two months, the Nouns NFT fork has announced the closing of its initial collection. An Ethereum NFT project that released 73 total pieces of Queen Elizabeth II NFT artworks to celebrate her life and longevity is currently hosting its final auction.

QueenE launched its auctions in early July and is now offering a single Ethereum NFT portrait in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the passing of the UK’s longest-serving monarch Queen Elizabeth II, the secondary sales for the QueenE NFTs also picked up earlier today. The current floor price on OpenSea sits at 0.88 ETH, around $1,450.

Vinícius Rodrigues, Fabio Seva, Everton Matumoto, and mladen.eth are the names behind the project QueenE which was designed to launch newly generated artworks at a steady clip for the rest of the Queen’s life. The QueenE team started developing this project in January of 2022.

The Queen Elizabeth II NFT project forked its format and code from Nouns. The Nouns NFT fork has been auctioning a single Ethereum-based profile picture each day while also including the collector in an exclusive club. However, it has a royal twist by creating lo-fi renditions of Queen Elizabeth II.

Initially, the QueenE auctions took place every few hours but then continued to happen once per day. Upon news of the Queen’s death today, the project announced an auction for the 73rd Ethereum NFT in the collection. This 73rd NFT will be the last one released as part of the original collection.

A future ‘Gen2’ collection was also teased by the QueenE DAO Twitter account whose bio reads “Rest in Ethereum, forever”. The details on the Gen2 collection are not disclosed yet.
