Major League Soccer Pioneers A Bored Ape Nft In A Pro Contract

In a one-of-a-kind pro contract signing, Major League Soccer announced the signing of a Bored Ape NFT. BAYC #6045 is the first digital athlete to join a professional sports team.

Striker, a Bored Ape NFT, was announced as a notable new signing by the football league. It was carried out by ge3, a division of Get Engaged that currently owns the golden-brown primate.

“I’m extremely excited to join Major League Soccer, the fastest growing sports league in North America,” Striker said. “In a League with players from more than 82 countries, it is an honor to be the first digital athlete. I can’t wait to get on the virtual pitch.”

Get Engaged spent a significant amount of money to secure this ape five months ago from Moonpay, which purchased Bored Ape #6045 on March 13th for 100 ETH or $251,000.

Striker will join the League before the MLS All-Star Game on August 10 and is the League’s newest All-Star roster member, with a special position on the virtual pitch.
