The decentralized, non-custodial cryptocurrency platform ShapeShift DAO will auction NFTs created by female artist LunaHawk and the DAO Creative Director GrayMachine, to support women artists in the NFT and blockchain industry.
The one-of-a-kind NFT to be auctioned on the NFT marketplace OpenSea is “Block 495559-Crypto Kitties and the Great Hairball in the Tubes”. It is part of the “The Creatures of Cryptozoology” NFT project.
The NFT, which was minted on the ETH mainnet two months ago, was featured in Crypto Kitties and the Great Hairball in the Tubes. It consists of three characteristics: Curious, Fluffy, Kitty. The auction will begin on April 4th at 5 P.M. EDT and end on April 11 at 6 P.M. EDT.
The current NFT that is to be auctioned, Crypto Kitties and the Great Hairball in the Tubes was shown at the ETHDenver 2022 innovation festival and received a lot of praise.
The highest bidder at the auction will receive a highly coveted Lago digital art frame to proudly display their winning NFT, and also 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Women of Crypto Art Fund via Giveth, a crypto charity platform.
The Creatures of Cryptozoology project consists of ten custom animal-themed NFTs, each individually minted, that tell the history of cryptocurrency through animals (unicorn, bear, whale, honey badger, bull, and others) for ShapeShift DAO to auction off, sell, or hold onto as they see fit.
GrayMachine a.k.a Harry, said, “This NFT auction will be the first of a series; we intend to auction another in the coming weeks to months.”
LunaHawk said, “The ShapeShift DAO is one of the top, if not the top, DAO in terms of active participants and other metrics, and I wanted the opportunity to contribute to and help its success GrayMachine (my project co-leader), the ShapeShift DAO and I also wanted to give back to the community; as a woman in the space, it’s clear crypto and blockchain can benefit from greater participation by women.”
Women’s participation is highly appreciated by fellow digital NFT artists in the space. Much has recently been done to assist and support them in their journey to find their place.
On that note, the feminist art group Pussy Riot shared the news of a partnership with popular names from the Web3 and NFT space to launch an investment fund UnicornDAO, dedicated to Women, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ artists in the space.
