A few hours ago, Bored Ape Yacht Club sold an NFT on the Opensea marketplace, which snatched away the tag of most expensive NFT in terms of Ethereum in BAYC collection. The identity of the buyer is not revealed at the time of writing.
One anonymous user has purchased the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT #2087 for an enormous amount, by paying 769 ETH. This is the highest amount of ETH spent on the BAYC NFT. As per the current market price, this amount is nearly $2,328,524.
The NFT #2087 is the rainbow-skinned Ape, in which the ape bits a cigarette in its mouth with angry eyes and Trippy fur. The background of the NFT is Purple. Bored Ape #2087 is the 9th rarest ape.
Before this, Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT #3749 was holding a tag of the most expensive NFT on the Ethereum blockchain, which was purchased by the decentralized gaming platform the SandBox by paying 740 ETH. At that time, this amount was close to 2.9 million USD.
The purchase was executed from a leading marketplace, OpenSea. This sale marked another milestone in Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) history. BAYC is the set of 10,000 digital computer-generated unique images of the Ape, which was introduced by Yuga Labs.
Currently, many celebrities and players are acquiring valuable NFTs under different pseudonyms following the boom in the market. Last week, Snoop Dogg revealed his identity as a serious NFT collector “Cozomo de Medici”, who holds $17 million worth of NFTs in his Ethereum wallet.
