Jupiter (JUP), the native token of the largest decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator on Solana, rose 16.7% in 24 hours to $0.3775 on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The rally came while Solana (SOL), the blockchain Jupiter is built on, fell 2.5% to $114.88 and the wider crypto market traded in fear. The figures below reflect market data as of about 10:30 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
Jupiter Price Today: Key Numbers
JUP traded between a 24-hour low of $0.3126 and a high of $0.3873. That is a swing of nearly 24% from the bottom to the top of the day’s range, and the token was still holding about 19.6% above its intraday low at the time of writing.

The token’s market capitalization stood at $1.241 billion, ranking it 71st among all cryptocurrencies. Its fully diluted valuation (FDV), which is the market value if all 10 billion JUP tokens were in circulation, was $3.775 billion.
Gains extend beyond a single session. JUP was up 15.4% over seven days, 31.2% over 14 days, and 55.3% over 30 days. Over the same seven days, the global crypto market declined about 2.4%.
Trading Volume Surged 68.6%
The 24-hour trading volume for JUP reached $171.62 million, a 68.6% increase from the previous day. A price rise backed by a sharp jump in volume generally indicates broad market participation rather than a move in thin trading.
Binance’s JUP/USDT pair, which pairs the token with the Tether (USDT) stablecoin, was the most active spot market, handling about $14.77 million of that volume.
Derivatives Traders Led the Move
Derivatives data suggests leveraged traders played a large role. Perpetual futures, or “perps,” are contracts that let traders bet on price with borrowed funds and no expiry date. On JUP, perpetual futures volume was 3.1 times spot volume, while open interest (OI), the total value of outstanding futures positions, stood at $161.33 million.
That open interest equals about 13% of JUP’s market capitalization. The eight-hour funding rate, a periodic payment between long and short traders that keeps futures prices aligned with spot prices, was a mildly positive 0.0069%. A positive rate means traders betting on higher prices were paying those betting on a decline, though the low reading does not point to extreme leverage.
Why Is Jupiter Up While Solana Falls?
Solana traded at $114.88, down 2.5% in 24 hours and 2.4% over seven days. Its 24-hour range was $114.42 to $117.90, and its market capitalization was $67.69 billion, ranking seventh. SOL remains up 11.8% over 30 days but down 48.1% over one year.
The drop came despite a major adoption headline. On October 7, the Solana Foundation announced that Samsung Wallet will support cross-border transfers in USD Coin (USDC), a dollar-pegged stablecoin, on Solana across 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices beginning in the last week of October 2026. The news follows Solana’s recent delivery-versus-payment (DvP) settlement program developed with input from J.P. Morgan.
Leveraged long positions bore the brunt of the decline. Liquidations occur when exchanges forcibly close leveraged positions after losses wipe out a trader’s collateral. CoinGlass data showed $15.83 million in SOL liquidations over 24 hours, with $14.71 million coming from long positions and $1.12 million from shorts.
Across the market, CoinGlass recorded $346.79 million in liquidations in the past 24 hours, involving 88,551 traders. Long positions accounted for $296.17 million of that total. The largest single liquidation was an $11.82 million BTCUSDT position on Binance.
Market sentiment remained weak. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index, a 0 to 100 gauge of investor mood where lower readings signal fear, stood at 38, in the “Fear” zone.
What Could Be Behind the JUP Rally?
No new token announcement, exchange listing or change to JUP’s buyback policy was published on October 8 to fully explain the move. Several factors may be contributing.
A rebound from recent lows. JUP’s seven-day low was $0.3059, per CoinGecko. The token traded near $0.31 earlier in the session before buyers pushed it past $0.37, suggesting part of the move is a recovery from a short-term bottom.
Lending market competition. CoinGecko’s news feed for Jupiter highlights reports that Jupiter Lend, the protocol’s lending and borrowing product, has overtaken Kamino as Solana’s largest lending protocol. However, the default total value locked (TVL) figures on DeFiLlama, a widely used analytics platform, did not confirm that on October 8. TVL measures the value of assets deposited in a protocol. Kamino Lend showed about $1.35 billion, ahead of Jupiter Lend at about $1.23 billion. Rankings can differ depending on whether TVL, deposits or borrowed amounts are measured.
Strong platform activity. Jupiter’s total TVL across its products was $2.664 billion. Beyond token swaps, the platform offers limit orders, dollar-cost averaging (DCA), a perpetual futures exchange and newer products such as the JupUSD stablecoin and the Forecast prediction markets platform. It also recently added trailing stop loss orders.
None of these factors has been confirmed as the direct trigger for Thursday’s price action.
Where JUP Stands Against Its Record High
Despite the recent gains, JUP remains 81.2% below its all-time high of $2.00, according to CoinGecko market data. It is trading 177.3% above its all-time low of $0.1358.
Token supply remains a long-term factor. Of the 10 billion maximum supply, about 3.319 billion JUP, or 33.2%, is currently in circulation, while total supply stands at 6.861 billion. Future token releases could add selling pressure.
Jupiter has also reconsidered its token buyback program, under which it committed 50% of protocol fees to repurchasing JUP and locking the tokens for three years. In January, co-founder Siong Ong questioned whether to continue the buybacks after the protocol spent more than $70 million on repurchases in 2025 with limited impact on price.
The token has also seen sharp swings in both directions this year. In May, JUP fell 8% despite a partnership with Bitwise, showing that company news has not always translated into price gains.
What Traders Are Watching Next
The day’s high of $0.3873 is the nearest level for traders to watch, while $0.3126 marks the session’s low. With futures volume well above spot volume, sustained buying in the spot market would be needed to confirm the move is more than a leveraged bounce.
Solana’s direction also remains a factor. JUP has moved against SOL this week, but the token’s fortunes remain closely tied to activity on the Solana network that Jupiter serves.
