U.S.-based crypto platform Anchorage Digital today announced that it integrated the TRON Network into its platform, allowing investors to manage TRX tokens through a regulated system.
According to an official release, the initiative would allow institutional clients, such as hedge funds and financial firms, to custody TRX, which is the main token used on the TRON network.
The firm added that this service will be available on its Porto wallet, which allows users to hold their assets themselves.
Rollout planned in phases
According to the announcement, the rollout will take place in phases. The first stage will focus on storing TRX, while later stages will add support for TRC-20 tokens. These are other digital tokens built on the TRON network, including stablecoins, which are designed to keep a steady value, often linked to the U.S. dollar.
Another phase will introduce staking, which would allow users to lock their tokens to help run the network and earn rewards.
Moreover, the integration is expected to expand the presence of the TRON token in the United States, as well as among institutional investors. The firm noted that large investors are coming into the market; as a result, they are looking for regulated platforms that follow the rules and provide strong security.
“By supporting Tron on Anchorage Digital’s regulated platform, we’re helping bring one of crypto’s largest ecosystems into an institutional framework,” said Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley.
TRON’s global use and value
TRON is widely used globally, particularly for transferring stablecoins quickly and at low cost. This has made it a common choice for payments and cross-border transfers.
Launched in 2017, the token has managed to reach about $29.37 billion in market valuation. It is currently trading around $0.30, with a daily trading volume of over $590 million, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
With Anchorage Digital’s support, adoption of the TRON network among institutional investors could increase, particularly as demand grows for regulated custody solutions.
