WhatsApp Now Supports Bitcoin with Sati Wallet

Meta-owned WhatsApp can now be used to send and receive Bitcoin through a tool called Sati, created by founder Felipe Servin. This new wallet works entirely inside WhatsApp, without needing users to download any extra apps.

Since Sati is a noncustodial wallet, users are in charge of their own cryptocurrency.  Private keys are not stored by the program, so only the user can access their money.  Users just message a WhatsApp bot to begin, set a PIN, and the program connects that PIN to a special code from their phone.  The user’s device retains all wallet info securely.

Sati is especially helpful for people in countries like Mexico, Brazil, Türkiye, and parts of Africa, where WhatsApp is already widely used. Servin said people in these places often face problems like limited access to banks, weak currencies, or dollar shortages. Using Bitcoin offers them a way to store and send money more easily.

Sati also plans to let users swap stablecoins (like digital dollars) directly with Bitcoin using the Lightning Network. They’re also working on tools to help users recover their wallets in case they lose access.

Servin said this solution can help millions of people in countries with unstable currencies. It allows them to use Bitcoin for everyday things like paying bills or sending money through chat. He also said that the feedback from early users has been positive.
