The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the agenda and panelists for its upcoming roundtable, “DeFi and the American Sprint,” which will be held on June 9, 2025, the final roundtable of a series that started in March.
As per the announcement, SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, who heads the Crypto Task Force, pointed out the advantages of DeFi as a revolutionary force. She stated, “DeFi exemplifies the promise of crypto, as it allows people to interact without intermediaries.” She underscored the SEC’s commitment to creating a regulatory structure that fosters DeFi’s growth, safeguards investors, and upholds market integrity.
The roundtable will take place at the SEC’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., from 1 PM to 5 PM and will be webcast live on the SEC’s website.
The roundtable will feature a diverse lineup of experts, academics, and industry leaders discussing the role of DeFi in reshaping the financial system. Attendees can expect deep, forward-looking insights from a powerhouse of thought leaders.
Jill Gunter is ready to give insight on bridging different blockchain networks and the growth of decentralized infrastructure. Michael Jordan is expected to have thoughtful ideas about capturing value from tokens and the future viability of L1 and L2. Omid Malekan is set to explain how the ideas of crypto relate to conventional finance, using examples, background, and philosophies for trust, decentralization, and the evolution of markets.
With his experience in government law, Michael Mosier will provide perspective on the link between DeFi, compliance, and national security. Troy Paredes, having worked for the SEC and studied at universities, will lead the discussion, helping to explain regulations and gain support.
