The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the details for its upcoming third crypto custody roundtable, scheduled for April 25, 2025, at its headquarters in Washington, D.C.
As per the announcement, this gathering is under the SEC’s “Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity” campaign to provide more guidance on the regulation of digital assets. The third session in the series of events is called “Know Your Custodian: Key Considerations for Crypto Custody.”
SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, who chairs the Crypto Task Force, stressed that custody issues should be discussed, as they are among the most significant as cryptocurrencies are gradually becoming part of the financial system.
The event will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and feature remarks from Acting SEC Chairman Mark Uyeda, Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw, and Peirce. The roundtable will consist of two panels moderated by Zach Zweihorn of Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP.
Panelists will include representatives from major crypto firms like Fireblocks, Kraken, and Fidelity Digital Asset Services, as well as legal and academic experts such as Adam Levitin from Georgetown University Law Center.
The roundtable will be dedicated to the issue of safe storage and protection of cryptocurrencies, which is a very relevant topic given the development of the industry. It is an open event, which will be held in person and broadcast online.
After the April 25 session, there will be two more roundtables: on May 12 and June 6, the topics of which will be tokenization and decentralized finance.
