Meme Coin Traders Criticize Students for Trump Co-Founder

A conservative activist and co-founder of the Students for Trump organisation, Ryan Fournier, is facing significant criticism from meme coin traders following a recent incident. Ryan Fournier was involved in a controversy after he sold half of the supply of a meme coin created by an X user to celebrate TikTok’s unbanning in the U.S.

In an X space discussion, Fournier stated, “I came up with the idea for a TikTok-themed meme coin in tandem with a meme coin trader named Asta, an X user, after TikTok came back online in the United States.” According to both traders, Asta created the coin and sent half of the supply to Fournier.

According to reports, the coin quickly surged in value, reaching a market capitalization of over $90 million. However, as the price began to decline, Fournier admitted to selling his share, along with additional tokens he had accumulated. In a transaction from a wallet he previously identified as his, Fournier swapped 505 million TikTok tokens for approximately $700,000 worth of SOL.

During the discussion, he reflected on his mindset at the time of the sale, saying, “You know, I thought I was about to walk away with $50 million in one day, you know, and I wasn’t going to sell it, I’m already happy with, you know, a couple million, but I looked at that and it bothered me in a way. I felt it wasn’t real. And then all of a sudden it started going down at increments I’ve never seen and people were selling. I didn’t know what the guy was doing who created it, so I just… I f*cked up, I f*cked up and that’s on me.”

Fournier claimed that Asta had been purchasing the token from other accounts, asserting that “all of a sudden Asta sold, and then I sold, so I don’t know what happened. I think that guy is a fraud, and I think he just scammed me, and I went along with it.”

Asta posted on X shortly before the sale transaction, stating, “Almost everyone knows I sent 50% of TIKTOK to Ryan Fournier. It was all of my supply, and I just wanted to start a cool movement.”

Then about ten minutes later, Asta added, “Right after I posted that, he sold all of his supply. I don’t know what to say anymore.”

However, Fournier denied making a profit from the sale in the X space, insisting that he was scammed by the token’s creator and claiming his profits were “almost in the negative” after buying and then selling the tokens.

He stated, “We’ll make it right. Whatever I have to do, if I have to give you guys $50,000 in cash, I’ll figure out a way to do it.” He further expressed regret, saying, “I feel ashamed of what happened today.”
