The cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH) is on the cusp of a significant price movement, with analysts and market enthusiasts predicting a potential breakout towards the $4,000 level. After a period of consolidation and a notable rally in recent months, Ethereum’s price action has placed it at a critical juncture, hinting at further upward momentum.
Recent market analyses indicate Ethereum is about to complete its current consolidation phase, with the cryptocurrency currently trading around $3,460 and approaching a temporary resistance at $3500.
This surge is attributed to several factors, including increased institutional interest in Ethereum spot ETFs. Yesterday ETHÂ saw a huge outflow of more than $77 million in ETFs yesterday, which pulled its price down a bit according to Farside. However, based on the current chart, a price increase might come soon and could push the price up to the $4000 level.
The recent price action proved that Ethereum formed a low range with a $3500 interim goal for the time being. However, it’s likely the price will not see a strong upswing until it reaches that resistance level.
Meanwhile, the long-term price trends hint that Ethereum will perhaps stay below the $4000 mark for a couple of months. On the weekly chart, one can see that Ethereum is riding an upward trendline. The recent drops from $4000 show this, but the buyers managed not to let the price drop too low and had pushed it back up above $3350, into the $3400s.
Even with this, the Relative Strength Index RSI goes up little by little, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence shows buying pressure is going down. A bearish crossover in the MACD might mean a further drop, pulling Ethereum’s price down. At the same time, trading volume has decreased by 7% today to $20.8 according to CoinMarketCap, suggesting that a big price change could happen soon.
There is a very good chance the price of Ethereum could go back up to $4000. But for this resistance to be broken, there does need to be a lot more buying. If Ethereum goes above the $4000 level, then it could make a new all-time high price and possibly go over $5000.
