I am not against memes, but meme coins are getting "a little" weird now.

Pump.fun live stream goes berserk

The story begins when the platform hit a massive $14.3 million in revenue on Saturday which is three times higher than the previous revenue report. However, this financial success fun was spoiled by its impropriate content on its platform.

Beau, a safety project manager at Pudgy Penguins, warned the users and the platform team about some disturbing instances where users threatened to commit suicide if their token’s market cap did not reach a specific target.

Hey @pumpdotfun there is currently someone using your livestreams to threaten to hang themselves if the coin does not reach a set marketcap.

Absolutely heinous and It needs to come down + see if you can get them help.

Shut down the livestream feature. This is out of control.

— Beau (@beausecurity) November 25, 2024

Additionally, Beau also urged the platform team to shut down the livestream feature as is out of control. After this, some more cases came up where users doing some disturbing things for token gains. Other reports included users firing guns out of windows and children threatening violence against family members.

On all this incident the platform’s pseudonymous founder, Alon, responded to the mounting criticism by acknowledging the concerns and emphasizing the company’s moderation efforts. “We have a large team of moderators working around the clock,” Alon stated, claiming that content moderation has been a priority since the platform’s inception.

Later on, the Pump.fun team had disabled live streams for an indefinite time period.

Horrifying Stories of Pump.fun

A Researcher named Melfoy shared a similar kind of incident where a high school kid about 12 years old yells on live that if the token doesn’t reach a 60K market cap he will kill his entire family with a shotgun.

A different story features a young couple who, in a shocking act, punches their 3-year-old child in the face every four minutes in exchange for reaching a market cap of $15,000 for their token. The background of the video states that if the market cap reaches $15,000, they will stop these actions.

These stories are so horrifying that showing that humans are now selling their souls to the devil. From threatening suicide to abusing a baby or having sex with an animal all this is disturbing and inhuman.

Final Thoughts

Pump.fun is no longer fun; as it’s turning into a dark web platform. The stories came out as disturbing and inhuman. Moreover, these also hinder crypto adoption and growth. These incidents highlight why Moderation of content is important which will monitor the broadcasts, and control illegal actions.
