ApeCoin, the official digital currency of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) ecosystem, has seen a rise in its value.
After announcing a new, free edition of the BAYC-themed game Dookey Dash, ApeCoin’s value surged by over 11%, reaching a high of $1.66. This increase marks a growth of 11.3% in a single day and an increase of 18.4% over the past week, as per CoinGecko’s report.
Originally, Dookey Dash was accessible to BAYC’s Sewer Pass NFTs holders. However, this expansion introduces broader participation opportunities.
Yuga Labs, the creator behind BAYC, has yet to confirm if ApeCoin will be used for in-game rewards, despite the game’s trailer revealing the ApeCoin logo prominently. The game’s initial version gained attention, particularly when Mongraal sold a unique NFT key for a shock of $1.63 million.
Additionally, Yuga Labs revealed via Twitter that special privileges in the game will be granted to holders of Bored Apes and Mutant Apes NFTs. The upcoming version of the game, compatible with iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows platforms, is scheduled for release in February.
