Ethereum traded near $2,500 on 9 October, below the $2,572 level reported in the prior day’s note by The Crypto Times.
CoinMarketCap marked the token between about $2,499 and $2,505. OKX’s daily history for October 9 shows an open of $2,474.88, a high of $2,509, and a low of $2,471.05, on about $181.75 million of venue volume. The October 8 close on the same table was $2,474.80, after an open of $2,474.15 and a low of $2,406. From the October 7 close of $2,574 to the October 9 low is a drop of about 4%. The session has recovered toward $2,500 but has not held above it.

ETF outflows reach an eighth session
U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recorded a net outflow of about $72.5 million on October 8, according to figures published from Farside Investors. That was the eighth consecutive session of net withdrawals.
BlackRock’s ETHA was the largest line, at about $71.1 million. Grayscale’s ETHE was about $6.1 million. Smaller outflows showed at VanEck’s ETHV and 21Shares’ TETH. Fidelity’s FETH recorded a net inflow of about $5.5 million, and Morgan Stanley’s MSSE about $1.3 million.
October’s cumulative net outflow for the ether ETFs stood at about $578.9 million through that session. Cumulative outflows since the streak began on September 29 were about $641.3 million. The October 6 and 7 prints, previously reported by The Crypto Times at $201.9 million and $160.9 million, respectively, remain the heaviest days in the run. The October 8 figure is smaller, but it extends the streak instead of breaking it.
A net outflow removes a buyer that had been present on inflow days. It does not, by itself, set the spot price. Combined with the liquidation print below, it leaves less mechanical support under $2,500 than the market had above $2,700 earlier in the week.
Liquidations stay long-heavy
CoinGlass data reviewed across several snapshots for the 24 hours ending early on October 9 put total crypto liquidations between about $1.12 billion and $1.19 billion. Longs accounted for roughly $1.04–$1.06 billion of that. Ether liquidations were reported between about $318 million and $356 million, ahead of bitcoin’s roughly $273–$298 million in the same windows. The largest single order cited was an ether position on Hyperliquid of about $19.98 million.
The Crypto Times reported on October 8 that liquidations had reached $1.12 billion, with longs at $1.05 billion, and that ether was at $2,418.81 at 17:15 UTC that day. The later boards show the flush continuing into the overnight session. Ether’s share of the total is larger than its share of crypto market capitalization. That is a positioning fact, not a forecast.
What the levels leave open
Ether is trading near $2,500 after a low of about $2,406. The eighth straight ETF outflow, at $72.5 million on October 8, and the long-heavy liquidations of roughly $318–$356 million are the two recorded flows in the same window. Neither figure sets the next print. A hold above $2,500 would put the overnight low behind the session. A close under $2,406 would reopen it.
Glamsterdam remains a testnet event. The Sepolia activation was on October 6. Hoodi and mainnet dates are not set. It is context for the week, not an explanation for the eighth ETF outflow or the liquidation print.
