Key Highlights
- Coinbase Wallet has added Polymarket prediction markets for eligible users.
- Users can access event contracts directly through the wallet interface.
- Prediction-market trading remains unavailable in the U.S. and certain other restricted jurisdictions.
Coinbase Wallet has added Polymarket prediction markets to its platform, allowing eligible users to access event contracts through the wallet’s interface.
According to an announcement published September 29, the integration allows users to view market data and execute transactions through third-party prediction-market protocols such as Polymarket. Availability depends on the user’s location and applicable restrictions.
The integration gives Polymarket access to another distribution channel while leaving existing geographic restrictions in place.
Polymarket comes to Coinbase Wallet
The integration allows eligible Coinbase Wallet users to access Polymarket contracts without leaving the wallet interface. Polymarket offers event-based contracts covering areas such as politics, sports, cryptocurrency, and other real-world events. The specific markets available to users can vary based on jurisdiction and platform restrictions.
Coinbase Wallet did not specify which individual Polymarket contracts would be available through the integration.
More wallets add Polymarket access
Polymarket Head of DeFi Integrations Suhail Kakar said the platform is now available through several crypto applications.
In a post on X, Kakar wrote, “Polymarket is now live in Coinbase Wallet! You can trade crypto, sports, and more without leaving the app.” He also listed MetaMask, Rainbow, Gate Exchange, and Jupiter among platforms where Polymarket is available and said additional integrations are being developed.
The integrations allow users to access prediction markets through applications they already use rather than relying solely on Polymarket’s standalone interface.
U.S. users remain restricted
The Coinbase Wallet integration does not make Polymarket prediction markets available to users in the United States. Access is also restricted in certain other jurisdictions, reflecting differences in local rules governing prediction markets and event contracts.
Coinbase warns users that prediction contracts can result in the loss of the full amount committed and that access to the products does not constitute investment advice or a recommendation.
The restrictions come as U.S. regulators and state authorities continue to dispute how certain prediction-market contracts should be classified and regulated.
Polymarket faces regulatory disputes in the U.S.
The Coinbase Wallet rollout comes amid continuing legal challenges surrounding prediction markets in the United States.
State authorities have challenged some event contracts involving sports and other activities, arguing that they may fall under state gambling laws. Prediction-market operators have generally maintained that their contracts are derivatives subject to federal oversight.
Polymarket has faced separate regulatory and legal disputes as it expands its U.S. presence and works to make its markets accessible through additional platforms.
As a result, access to prediction markets continues to depend heavily on the jurisdiction in which a user is located.
Coinbase’s other crypto developments are separate
Coinbase has recently expanded its presence across several areas of digital-asset infrastructure.
On September 28, the CFTC approved Coinbase Clearing LLC as a derivatives clearing organization, allowing the company to provide clearing services for fully collateralized futures, options on futures, and swaps.
Coinbase also expanded a partnership with Citi involving stablecoin payment infrastructure for institutional clients.
Neither development changes the availability or regulatory status of Polymarket contracts through Coinbase Wallet.
What the integration changes
For eligible Coinbase Wallet users, the main change is access: Polymarket contracts can now be reached directly through an existing wallet interface.
For Polymarket, the integration adds another distribution route at a time when prediction-market platforms are increasingly using wallets, exchanges, and other crypto applications to reach users.
The rollout does not remove existing geographic restrictions, and U.S. users remain unable to access prediction-market trading through Coinbase Wallet.
