Bitcoin Can ‘Easily’ Touch $200,000 Before Year-End Tom Lee

In a recent media interview, American entrepreneur and financial analyst Tom Lee predicted that Bitcoin could reach $200,000 by the end of 2025. This prediction follows on the heels of the anticipated interest rate cut from the U.S. Federal Reserve.

Speaking to CNBC, Lee highlighted the Federal Reserve’s upcoming monetary policy meeting on September 17 as a key catalyst. “Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies like Ethereum are super sensitive to monetary policy,” he stated, emphasizing that looser policy could propel Bitcoin’s value significantly.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading just above $112,776, according to CoinGecko. Over the past few years, Lee’s prediction has generally been correct about Bitcoin’s price rise. However, he has been wrong on certain occasions.

In 2018, Lee forecasted Bitcoin reaching $125,000 by the year 2022, but it peaked to only $48,222 that year. Later, it crashed below $16,300 after a 2021 high of $69,044.

Expectations for Rate Cut and Bitcoin Price

The U.S. President Donald Trump has cautioned the Federal Reserve to cut rates, but it has maintained the current range of 4.25% to 4.50%. Analysts, including the UK bank Standard Chartered, said that they expect a 0.50% rate reduction by next week.

Historically, cryptocurrencies and stocks have thrived in low-interest-rate environments due to increased market liquidity. Lee’s optimism is based on this trend; however, his target of $200,000 represents a significant increase from Bitcoin’s current price.

On June 27, 2025, Bitcoin had surpassed Alphabet (Google) in market cap, reaching $2.128 trillion, after hitting $107,442. After the hike Bitcoin was ranked as the sixth most valuable asset in the world.

Apart from Tom Lee, several other crypto experts too have predicted Bitcoin’s growth. In May 2025, Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan predicted that Bitcoin would hit $200,000 by the end of 2025. Strong institutional demand and ETF flows are the driving forces behind this prediction.

In April 2025, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert Kiyosaki, predicted that Bitcoin would reach between $180,000 and $200,000 by the end of 2025, attributing it to institutional investments and macroeconomic factors.
