Algorand Foundation Ceo'S X Account Hacked, Urges Caution

The Algorand Foundation requested that its community abstain from clicking links and replying to direct messages after revealing on X (formerly Twitter) that its CEO Staci Warden’s account had been compromised.

On January 26, the account belonging to Warden shared a post in which the Algorand community was called poor while using a well-known racial slur. This suggests that someone other than Warden was in control of the account. Subsequently, the hacker exhorted the community to exchange Algorand for Ethereum.

Following the post, the hacker posted a parody detailing how Justin Sun, the founder of Tron, would propel Algorand to unprecedented heights. The hacker claimed all they needed to do was grant Sun “total control” over Algorand so that he could mint any token back to True USD (TUSD).

The hacker posted, “Of course, I accepted this offer immediately. Soon, Algorand will be pegged to VERY REAL USD and a new era of digital commerce will commence.” Additionally, the hacker claimed in post that Sun’s projects will be the cause of the upcoming “major financial collapse in crypto.”

Further, the hacker also shared music on the account and modified Warden’s profile, saying, “Drained 6 figures from my customers and gaslit them into thinking it was a hack.”

Moreover, the hacker altered Warden’s bio to falsely claim that he had already left the Algorand Foundation and that currently, he is a “semi-professional pole dancer”.
