Friend.tech Denies Leak Of 100K User Database

The recent popular decentralized social app Friend.tech has shared its statement about the 100k database leak.

Friend.tech cited an article from the publication while clarifying that it’s just scrapping of public API that shows its users’ public usernames and wallet addresses.

“It’s like saying someone hacked you by looking at your public Twitter feed,” it said.

However, the publicly available database also raises concerns about compromised privacy as most crypto users do not like their wallet address being public.

The database leak news from The Block has also received negative sentiment by X’s Community Notes which cites that the underlying data is public and anybody can read it on block explorer.

Friend.tech has come out as the most popular decentralized application among the crypto community within a week of its launch. It also became the second most fees generating decentralized protocol after Ethereum, according to data from DeFiLlama.
