Popular NFT collection Doodles announced its much-awaited Doodle 2 NFT collection will be launched on the Flow blockchain.
Doodles 2 will be a brand-new venture targeted at bringing on board more Doodles users, particularly those outside the Ethereum NFT ecosystem.
Doodles 2 NFTs will allow new collectors to mint a base-level Doodle, select generic traits like skin tone and hair color, and then customize their Doodle with wearables that come in varying rarity tiers.
At the NFT.NYC event in 2022, the Doodles team announced that Doodles 2 would launch on a separate blockchain platform from Ethereum due to the customization feature, as Ethereum mainnet transactions can incur hefty network gas fees.
Doodles co-founder Jordan Castro, stated “We’ve productized the community’s desire to customize their Doodles so that it matches their IRL vibe exactly. Tech aside, Doodles 2 is the passport that’s used in all of our products – experiences, games, apps, music, animation releases, to bring further personalization, customization and rewards to our fans.”

The Doodles team has now disclosed that it selected the Flow blockchain, backed by Dapper Labs since it will facilitate “frictionless onboarding and world-class security, safety, and recoverability.”
The team said that the distribution of Doodles 2 would start on January 31 for current Doodles NFT holders, with more information coming soon after.
About a month from now, when the Genesis Box opens for holders to mint second-edition wearables, the next phase for Doodles will begin.
Additionally, any wearable version unlocked during this launch time will come with a Doodles 2 Beta Pass, granting owners access to a forthcoming private beta of the create-your-own Doodle tool.
