Ftx Ceo Sam Bankman-Fried Visited The White House In May

According to White House visitor logs, FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and his regulatory team met with White House policy advisor Charlotte Butash in May 2022.

Bankman-Fried was accompanied to his meeting with Butash and counselor Steve Ricchetti by FTX’s director of government relations and policy Eloria Katz and FTX’s head of policy Mark Wetjen.

Gabriel Bankman-Fried, Director of Guarding Against Pandemics, was also present at one of the meetings with Butash.

The logs did not specify the purpose of the meetings. However, the presence of the regulatory team at the meeting suggests that it had something to do with how cryptocurrency is regulated.

FTX has made headlines for its clearing proposal to the CFTC to allow certain crypto transactions to be settled directly. In May, the CFTC held a roundtable with Sam Bankman-Fried to discuss disintermediating derivatives trading on its platform.
