An Indian ed-tech start-up, Camp K12, announced on Wednesday that it was launching ‘Hatch Kids’, its own Metaverse and AR/VR educating platform for children.
Hatch Kids will enable students from ages 6 to 18 to create 3D, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) experiences seamlessly, as per the press release.
Explaining Hatch’s vision, Camp K12’s Co-founder and CEO, Anshul Bhagi, stated, “As technologies like AR and VR go mainstream, we need to upgrade the tools that kids learn on and that educators teach on for modern-day use cases and content formats.”
“We built Hatch as a kids coding platform for the age of the metaverse. We want to give 100M+ young kids their first AR/VR creation experience and the self-confidence to be builders in the inevitable Mixed Reality future rather than passive consumers of it,” he added.
Young students and first-time coders can begin utilizing a visual, blocks-based programming environment, and then graduate to programming advanced 3D applications operating JavaScript, the press release revealed.
Students will also be enabled to publish and share their work instantly to millions of supported devices, which include iPads, professional VR headsets, smartphones, laptops & desktops through a simple QR code scan or a link share.
The platform is currently being used by 100+ schools as well as ed-tech companies in the Middle East, North America, Europe and India to make AR/VR creation accessible for children.
Camp K12 is expecting Hatch Kids to top 2 million MAUs by the end of this year, owing to the high demand from students, and collaborations with 1500+ schools, ed-tech, and further government bodies all over the globe.
During last December, Hatch Kids was showcased on Code.org (a global coding platform with over 70 million kid coders) as an “Hour of Code” activity and as of today, it has grown to be the #1 most famous activity for students from Grades 6 – 8 and the #3 most popular activities overall in the Code.org partner ecosystem.
