AMC Theatres is giving away unique Spider-Man NFTs to members of its AMC Stubs Premiere, AMC Stubs A-List, and AMC Investor Connect who purchased their SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME opening-day ticket in advance for the first time.
On November 29, advance tickets will go on sale, with the film premiering exclusively in theatres on December 16. Spider-Man NFT is a joint promotion of Sony Pictures and AMC Entertainment.
Pre-order buyers will receive their freebies till stocks last, and a total of 86,000 NFTs will be distributed as part of the promotional effort. The entire manufacturing of the limited NFTs is projected to reach 90,000, with over 100 NFT designs created by animation studio Cub Studios.
The collaboration between Sony Pictures and AMC Entertainment for Spider-Man: No Way Home is the first-ever NFT campaign by a major theatre chain. AMC Stubs Premiere, A-List, and Investor Connect members who are the first to acquire opening day tickets (or, in the case of AMC Stubs A-List members, the first to book their seats) at any AMC Theatres location in the United States will be eligible for up to 86,000 NFTs.
Cub Studios, a renowned animation firm that has received BAFTA and Lovie awards for their work, will generate over 100 NFT designs.
While supplies last, the NFT giveaway will be good exclusively for tickets purchased or reserved for showtimes on December 16 in all formats at all AMC theatres in the United States. Members of AMC Stubs A-List, Premiere, or Investor Connect must purchase or reserve tickets on AMCTheatres.com or the AMC mobile app to be eligible for the NFT.
On the occasion, AMC’s Chairman of the Board and CEO, Adam Aron, said: “Our AMC Theatres guests and our AMC Entertainment shareholders have been calling for AMC to get into the world of NFTs, and we couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to start doing so than with our good friends at Sony Pictures.”
On December 22, customers who are eligible for the NFT will get instructions on how to redeem it through email. By March 1, 2022, at 11:59:59 p.m. ET, the token must be redeemed.
The Spider-Man NFT will be redeemable at a specialised site hosted by WAX, the world’s first carbon-neutral blockchain with an ultra-low carbon footprint and energy efficiency. Also with 15 million transactions every day, WAX is the most commonly utilised blockchain in the planet.
Before entering into the NFT space, AMC also started accepting crypto as a mode of payment. By that time it also added meme-tokens. Recently, AMC Theatres enlisted Shiba Inu (SHIB) as an online payment option and for concessions.
