Key Highlights
- Polygon Open Money Stack now supports TRON, expanding its stablecoin payment infrastructure to businesses using the network.
- Businesses can accept USDT on TRON, hold it in custodial or embedded wallets, and route funds across TRON, Polygon and other supported chains.
- The platform supports payment flows from bank transfers, cards, cash and crypto into USDT and back into local fiat.
Polygon has expanded its Open Money Stack (OMS) to support TRON, allowing businesses to build stablecoin payment flows around USDT on the network.
According to a Polygon announcement, businesses can now use OMS to manage USDT payments on TRON, including custody, cross-chain transfers and payouts.
The company said the setup is aimed at businesses whose customers already hold or transfer USDT on TRON and need infrastructure for custody, routing and conversion into local currencies.
Polygon OMS adds TRON support for USDT payments
Under the new setup, businesses can accept payments through bank transfers, cards, cash, crypto or a dedicated deposit address before converting funds into USDT on TRON.
They can then hold the funds through custodial or embedded wallets, program how and where the money moves, and route USDT between TRON, Polygon and other supported networks.
For payouts, businesses can convert USDT back into local currency and send funds to a bank account, card, cash pickup location or another wallet.
Polygon described the payment flow as:
Onramp → Hold → Route → Offramp
Businesses can use persistent TRON deposit addresses
Polygon said OMS provides each customer with a persistent TRON deposit address that can be reused for future USDT deposits.
When USDT arrives, OMS attributes the deposit to the relevant customer and makes the balance available for subsequent payments or transfers.
This means businesses do not have to generate a new address for every transaction or build their own deposit-reconciliation system, according to Polygon.
The company gave an example of a customer receiving multiple USDT deposits through the same TRON address, with the payments automatically matched to that customer’s balance.
Cross-chain routing without a separate bridge
The integration also allows businesses to move USDT between TRON and other supported networks.
Polygon said its Polygon Trails routing infrastructure can move USDT and other supported assets between TRON and EVM-compatible chains in a single transaction.
For example, a business could accept USDT from a customer on TRON and settle the payment in USDC for a recipient using another network.
Polygon said users do not need to interact directly with a bridge during this process.
Polygon targets remittance and fintech use cases
Polygon said the TRON integration is aimed at remittance platforms, fintech companies, exchanges and payout products whose customers already use USDT on the network.
The company highlighted markets such as the Philippines, Mexico, Argentina and Nigeria, where businesses may encounter customers using USDT for cross-border payments.
Polygon said requiring customers to move funds to another blockchain before using a payment product could add another step to the transaction process.
TRON’s stablecoin supply grew in Q3
The expansion comes as TRON continues to hold a large share of the stablecoin market.
A Q3 2026 report found that TRON’s stablecoin supply reached $93.9 billion, adding about $5 billion during the quarter. TRON accounted for 31.2% of the stablecoin supply tracked across 47 blockchain networks.
The broader stablecoin market reached $300.9 billion during the same period.
TRON also released its GreatVoyage-v4.8.2.3 node upgrade on October 1 as part of the Anaxagoras upgrade, requiring node operators to update their FullNodes to maintain network synchronization.
Custodial and embedded wallet options
OMS supports both custodial and embedded wallets for businesses using TRON.
Under the custodial model, Polygon said a licensed custodian holds the private keys, while identity checks, screening and transaction monitoring can be incorporated into the payment flow.
With embedded wallets, users control their own keys while accessing the wallet through familiar authentication methods rather than requiring a browser extension or seed phrase during onboarding.
Polygon said businesses can retain their existing wallet, compliance provider or ledger and connect them to the OMS components they need.
The company said the integration adds TRON to the networks supported by OMS, while businesses can continue using their existing infrastructure where required.
