Kraken Parent Payward Targets US Stocks With Perpetual Futures

Key Highlights

  • Payward filed to offer single-stock perpetual futures to U.S. traders through Kraken.
  • The initial lineup includes Tesla, SPCX, Nvidia, Broadcom, Micron Technology, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, and Palantir.
  • Payward is also working toward 24/5 trading to let users respond to market-moving events outside regular stock-market hours.

Payward, the parent company of Kraken, has filed to offer single-stock perpetual futures to U.S. traders through the Kraken platform. The firm confirmed that its initial lineup consists of 10 U.S. equities: Tesla (TSLA), SPCX, Nvidia (NVDA), Broadcom (AVGO), Micron Technology (MU), Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN), Alphabet (GOOGL), and Palantir (PLTR).

In an X post on Friday, Payward also said it is working toward 24/5 trading hours. The stated goal is to allow traders to respond to market-moving events outside traditional stock-market trading sessions.

Initial announcement for Onchain Perpetual Futures

Payward announced on September 16 that it intends to deploy on-chain perpetual futures markets for U.S. clients.

The initial deployment would use Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 markets, described as the protocol’s first builder-deployed permissioned perpetual markets. These markets would operate on Hyperliquid’s public blockchain, where the on-chain order book matches and records trades.

Bitnomial, Payward’s CFTC-regulated exchange and clearinghouse, would serve as the HIP-3 deployer. It would create, own, and administer the market and handle clearing and settlement of the contracts.

NinjaTrader Clearing, Payward’s CFTC-registered futures commission merchant, would carry the client accounts. Only accounts onboarded by NinjaTrader and included on both NinjaTrader and Bitnomial allowlists would be eligible to trade.

The relevant regulated entities are Bitnomial Exchange, LLC (a CFTC-regulated designated contract market), Bitnomial Clearinghouse, LLC (a CFTC-registered derivatives clearing organization), and NinjaTrader Clearing, LLC (a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant and NFA member). Hyperliquid is the first protocol Payward plans to use for U.S. client deployments.

Parallel activity by Coinbase

Separately, on September 18, Coinbase said it filed with U.S. regulators to offer perpetual futures tied to individual U.S. stocks.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Coinbase is considering contracts linked to approximately 50 to 60 major U.S. companies, including Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and Nvidia.

The exchange indicated it could launch the products later in the year subject to required approvals. The proposed contracts would similarly provide derivatives exposure to stock-price movements without requiring direct ownership of the shares.

Bybit launches perp options on equity perpetual futures

Moreover, cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has activated Perp Options, a new derivatives product that adds options contracts on top of its equity perpetual futures. The initial markets are SPCX, the platform’s synthetic SpaceX perpetual, and NVDA, its Nvidia perpetual. Both are available for continuous trading with defined expiration dates.

The products went live on September 17, 2026, at 20:00 UTC.

The launch expands Bybit’s TradFi Perpetuals suite, which was introduced in April 2026 and currently includes equities, exchange-traded funds, commodities, and pre-initial public offering names.
