Key Highlights
- A glitch was found by XRPL Services in which escrow registrations failed even though they paid 1 XRP as fees.
- Transactions will now be processed again, and there will be no need for users to register the escrow themselves.
- Through a procedure called automation, any extra payments done by users will be refunded.
XRPL Services, a tool for executing XRP Ledger transactions, has admitted the existence of a technical glitch that is causing problems with its “Escrow Releaser Service” and has reassured its customers that steps have been taken to fix the problem.
The announcement by XRPL Services on its official X account mentioned that there are some cases wherein some users have paid the necessary fee, which is 1 XRP, but the transaction did not register.
On another note, when some users tried to interact with the Escrow Creator xApp, they got an error message stating that they could not add their escrow successfully.
Automated refund mechanism
To resolve the consequences of this glitch, the company explained that all the affected transactions would be reprocessed. It implies that those escrows that could not be registered prior to this event will now be included in the list of escrows in the Escrow Releaser service without any other actions on the part of the users.
At the same time, XRPL Services also reported that they are going to implement an automated refund mechanism for such situations when users might have accidentally paid double for the registration of one escrow request. Thus, if two fee payments are registered for the same request, the excessive sum will be returned to the client.
Escrow releaser services have been developed to facilitate automation of releasing escrowed funds on the XRP Ledger, which is usually implemented in the case of time or conditional transfers. Any disruptions in providing such services may cause users to be concerned about the proper functioning of the blockchain contract.
This statement from XRPL Services was completed with thanks to its users for their patience and confirmation that it will do all in its power to solve the problem as soon as possible.
Addition of ZK proof capabilities
In an advancement, the XRP Ledger team stated that they have added native zero-knowledge (ZK) proof capabilities into their platform by integrating Boundless. This will enable financial institutions to engage in confidential transactions using public blockchain technology, without violating regulations.
Details like amounts involved in transactions, parties taking part in them, and treasury balances can stay secure while still verifying everything due to ZK cryptography. XRPL will also receive a new set of developer tools such as the XRPL starter kit.
Difficulty for blockchain service tools
Even though there was no specific data on the number of people impacted, the firm noted the difficulty that the problem caused and assured its members that it will do everything possible to solve the problem.
From the update, it is evident that the firm wanted to be transparent and honest with its users since escrow services are important for the operations of the XRP Ledger network. The problem demonstrates how difficult it is to run any blockchain service tool despite the fact that it is well-established.
