Genius Act Faces Over 60 Amendments In Senate Talks: Report

The U.S. Senate is racing against time to finalize the GENIUS Act, a key bill now under heavy negotiation. Lawmakers are currently reviewing over 60 proposed amendments, sparking intense bipartisan talks aimed at streamlining the legislation.

As reported by journalist Eleanor Terrett on X, both parties are currently talking about how to reduce the length of the amendment list. If they reach an agreement soon, the bill could hit the Senate floor by the end of this week. Otherwise, procedural delays may push the final vote into next week.

The GENIUS Act flew under the radar until recently, but the surge in amendment proposals shows just how important the bill has become. The content of these amendments remains under wraps, but the volume suggests high stakes for both parties.

There is now a bipartisan effort to make the bill move more smoothly. Lawmakers are aware that without a deal, the process could stop, which could affect other important upcoming plans.

The fact that these discussions are happening now is interesting, given the recent surge in crypto interest in the U.S., as seen with Truth Social’s Bitcoin ETF filing. Although it is not yet clear what the GENIUS Act will do for crypto, the increased political attention is easy to spot.

Terrett noted earlier that the Senate is close to passing the bill despite heavy revision requests. Now, behind closed doors, lawmakers are working overtime to find common ground.

If talks are successful, the GENIUS Act could quickly become the main focus in Congress this week.
