Hawk Tuah Girl Says SEC Closed Investigation on Her Meme Coin

The viral Hawk Tuah meme girl, Haliey Welch has revealed that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has closed investigation on her HAWK meme coin that crashed 95% within hours after its launch and she was accused of rug-pulling the token.

As per the Haliey Welch’s talk with the pop culture news media platform TMZ, she has been freed from the SEC investigation on the infamous HAWK meme coin and “she is walking away clean.”

Hailey told TMZ that she has been cooperating with all the authorities for the past few months and that work is finally complete.

In December 2024, the HAWK meme coin crashed by 95% hours after its launch. At the time, most people suggested that the meme coin was a rug-pull scam and the girl Haliey Welch was behind it. HAWK reached a market capitalization of over $500 million before plummeting to merely $25 million in hours.

In this fiasco, several investors lost thousands of dollars and they sued creators of the HAWK meme coin along with Welch over allegations that they allured investors and made them believe in the promises on future growth while they suffered major losses after its value dropped drastically.

“The SEC closed the investigation without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions from, Haliey,”  says James Sallah, Haliey’s attorney, adding “Because they did not bring any action against her, there are no restrictions on what she can do in regards to crypto or securities in the future.”

However, the SEC has not shared any comments on Welch’s claim regarding the dismissal of the investigation into Hawk Tuah (HAWK) meme coin.
